This assignment asks students to answer various formatting questions related to MLA style. Depending on skill level, the instructor may choose to allow them to use an aid (like Purdue Owl) to construct the citations or do them from memory. This assignment is best used to assess students’ understanding of MLA and provide them with low-stakes practice of these formatting skills. All highlighted areas are the correct answers of the multiple choice questions; highlights should be removed from the worksheet before giving to students.

This resource explains the writing process steps and many prewriting strategies to help students come up with ideas for their college writing assignments. The resource was remixed from several other creative commons resources. It can be used as a textbook chapter for students to read and view the videos or as a prewriting assignment. It can also serve as an instructor resource to provide lecture notes and videos or in-class prewriting exercises. This resource was created to align to the English 1301 Student Learning Objective (SLO) "Develop ideas with appropriate support and attribution" as the initial idea-generation step of that process, and it also aligns to the English 1301 SLO "Demonstrate knowledge of individual writing processes," as it begins with explaining the writing process steps.

This manual is about structures that occur within the Earth’s crust. Structures are the features that allow geologists to figure out how parts of the Earth have changed position, orientation, size and shape over time. This work requires careful observation and measurements of features at the surface of the Earth, and deductions about what’s below the surface. The practical skills you will learn in this course form the foundation for much of what is known about the history of the Earth, and are important tools for exploring the subsurface. They are essential for Earth scientists of all kinds.

A learning module for import to LMS on the social psychology of stereotypes, racial bias, and biased policing. Also available as a standalone module on the Blackboard Coursesites platform.
From the assignment's preamble:
Largely because of the horrific videorecorded murder of George Floyd while under the restraint of four Minneapolis police officers, citizens around the world are feeling a renewed urgency to take action to recognize and act against racism. This Teach-In is designed to give you an opportunity to learn a bit more about the psychology of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, the racial inequities and inequalities that exist in society and in policing, your own biases, and about the societies and organizations working to remedy these inequalities and inequities.
Here is briefly what the Teach-In involves:
Reading: You will read part of a social psychology textbook on social categorization and stereotyping, and two relatively short and approachable academic journal articles. Watching: You will watch several brief TED-type lecture talks about the topic, and a debate on the topic "Policing is Racially Biased," presenting informed arguments both in favor of that idea and against it. Doing: You will experience how psychologists measure one aspect of bias -- implicit bias. Writing: You will write two short reflection-style papers, and write journal entries about your feelings and experience.

The following resource provides a blank worksheet instructors can customize to guide students through specific annotations, such as analyzing the rhetorical situation or analyzing the author’s intention with specific word choices. This resource illustrates how the worksheet might be used with two suggested readings. The first example features a nonfiction essay discussing the complex opinions around choosing disability through preimplantation genetic diagnosis. With this text, students will encounter questions about vocabulary, tone, argumentative reasoning, types of evidence, and more. The second example features an excerpt from the book The Devil’s Highway by Luis Alberto Urrea, which vividly recounts a desolate desert. In this example, students will analyze the purpose of devices such as allusions, diction, and imagery. An instructor has the option of using either example or customizing the blank worksheet to their own purposes.
