This very robust initiative is our University's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). In an effort to ultimately impact academic success, it proposes to address issues and challenges related to the “whole student.” The plan proposes activities that directly engage students as soon as they express an interest in the university. It also proposes activities that support and empower students to matriculate beyond the first year and ultimately progress to graduation. The primary thrust of this plan includes targeted interventions during the initial months of enrollment designed to help students have a strong acclimation to the University from the onset. TSU has identified a topic through its ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes, that include 14 key areas across campus ranging from Admissions, Financial Aid, Information Technology and Campus Engagement.

In Southwest Texas Junior College's 15/30/40+ Credit Hours Interventions, Success Coaches meet with students whom are seeking an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science when they meet key credit milestones. Success Coaches meet with each student to monitor student progress and plan future courses to keep students on track using student planning at each marker of 15/30/40+. Transfer pathways are also part of student planning. 15/30/40+ are markers for retention and completion. Once a student reaches the 40+ credit mark, the college's transfer team contacts each student to discuss graduation and transfer

Austin Community College’s new, all-inclusive scholarship program supports students focused on starting a career immediately after ACC. Career Scholars receive financial and academic support while working toward a certificate or associate degree in an approved area of study. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees — for a total of $5,000 disbursed over a period of up to 3 years — and ensures recipients have the guidance and support they need to reach their goals. Career Scholars builds holistic support services around the students, with rich career service resources and academic support in an effort to 1) alleviate financial barriers that often prevent underserved student populations from attaining a higher ed credential; 2) support students academically while enhancing their career skills, and 3) give students exposure to potential internships with industry partners in their area of study. The unique Career Scholars program serves two categories of students: graduating high school seniors and current ACC adult learners. Participants in the High School Career Scholars program work toward a certificate or associate degree in a field that was identified by the Texas Workforce Commission as having high demand and earning potential. These fields are: Arts, Digital Media & Communications; Business; Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering; Education; Health Care; Manufacturing/Skilled Trades; Public & Social Services. The Career Scholars Program for adults is open to adult learners interested in the following career areas, which have strong hiring and salary opportunities: Accounting/Bookkeeping; Computer Sciences; Health Care; Manufacturing; and Applied Tech/Skilled Trades.

The tenth module serves as a final assessment of learning. Throughout the modules there are opportunities to test ones knowledge and further explore a concept. The ACE it program supports Brazosport College’s mission for student success. Through a structured, consistent, and collaborative mentoring relationship, students foster a sense of connectedness and take responsibility for developing their educational, career, and personal goals. ACE it involves a shared responsibility between student and ACE it coach that includes student learning outcomes as well as expectations for both student and ACE it coach.To achieve these goals, all first time at Brazosport College students are assigned an ACE it coach during their first semester. Coach and student meet several times to discuss goals, successes, needs and provide specific just-in-time referrals to campus resources. Coach and student work together to identify career possibilities which inform a customized long range educational plan. Students are assigned coaches based upon shared professional and career interests so that the coach offers career mentorship while also supporting student adjustment to college life. ACE it coaching leverages the Appreciative Advising framework within a mandatory, intrusive approach that ensures all students get the holistic support and connections to succeed.

Achieving Completion through Innovation Vision and Team Engagement (ACTIVATE) is a program especially designed for men of color at Texarkana College (TC). ACTIVATE will serve 10-12 students each year with the goal of matriculation at TC. Students in ACTIVATE will be a part of a cohort that seeks to equip them with the necessary skills to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom. ACTIVATE includes mentoring, community engagement, financial literacy training, leadership development, weekly meetings, materials for instruction, and a stipend scholarship. The standard citation style guide book for the fields of business, education, health science, public service, and social science is the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, 2010. The American Psychological Association (APA) publishes the manual. We commonly refer to it as "the APA Manual".

The business, education, health science, public service, and social science departments at IRSC recommend APA format for papers written in these fields.

Two types of citations are included in most research papers: citations within the text of the document and a list of reference citations at the end of the paper.

In-Text Citations:

The APA Manual uses the author-date citation system for in-text citations.

Reference Citations:

The sources you use in your work are included as a separate list at the end of the paper. The APA Manual suggests using the title, References, for the list.

The first published account of the theorizing that was involved in the development of John M. Keller’s ARCS model is contained in a 1979 publication entitled Motivation and Instructional Design: A Theoretical Perspective. At that early stage, Keller explains his working definition, “motivation is generally defined as that which accounts for the arousal, direction, and sustenance of behavior” (Keller, 1979, p. 29). The emergence of Keller’s model was heavily influenced by a research into a variety of underlying motivational constructs. The theoretical alignment of the original ARCS model is covered more in-depth in the theoretical alignment section. The ARCS model has an official website. This textbook explores the ARCS model.

The Academic Achievers Program (AAP) was established in 1994. The program's mission is to recruit underrepresented students and increase retention and graduation rates. Members of the Academic Achievers Program are provided with an annual scholarship, tutoring, mentoring, time-management skill sessions, career guidance, and leadership skills. Students on academic probation or academic suspension are provided zero-hour, course-based support for academic recovery. Course curriculum and activities align with activities that lead to academic success in the students' other courses. Students meet with an academic recovery coach, receive coordinated care from other offices such as counseling services, engage with tutors for coursework, and more. All support is available both in-person and virtually. UNIV 2001, for students on academic probation, and UNIV 3001, for students on academic suspension, are designed for students to regain good academic standing, thereby increasing credit accumulation, increasing GPA, and decreasing time to completion.

The Academic Success Center's embedded tutoring program provides equitable access to academic support by aligning support between the instructor, the tutor, and the course content. Embedded tutors provide support to students enrolled in gateway courses such as MATH 1314 College Algebra, CHEM 1411 General Chemistry I, MATH 1420 Calculus, and more. The Academic Success Center identifies potential equity gaps in end-of-course outcomes and provides scaffolded and aligned academic support using in- and out-of-class tutoring. Tutors provide in-class support during classroom practice and activities, particularly in active learning classrooms. Tutors provide out-of-class support in study groups, one-on-one tutoring sessions, and review sessions. Tutoring services are located in a centralized tutoring and mentoring center inside the campus library to provide access to connect students to different support services. All tutoring is also available online.
