This course presents a topical approach to landform analysis and process. Map interpretations are used to demonstrate relationships to constructive and destructive processes during landform development. Planning economic and social considerations are examined.

The purpose of the Early Learning Guidelines (ELG) for Infants and Toddlers is to provide a comprehensive view of the development of infants and toddlers while documenting experiences that support this development.

This course is designed to acquaint beginning students with some of the fundamental principles of international relations such as realism and idealism. Realism, for example is based on the assumption that the state constitutes the most important actor in the international system. The course will also explore the nature of idealism, which emphasizes the role of international norms and ethics, such as the preservation of human rights, as a means of realizing international justice. The course will also analyze international political economy and various theories ranging from mercantilism to dependency theory.

This course provides graduate students in the sciences with an intensive introduction to applied statistics. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, non-parametric methods, estimation methods, hypothesis testing, correlation and linear regression, simulation, and robustness considerations. Calculations will be done using handheld calculators and the Minitab Statistical Computer Software.

This section examines how reality and fantasy are understood and constructed by, across, and in the Americas. This course is designed to early childhood education professionals with the knowledge and skills to teach each content area according to the preschool learning guidelines, or state standards. This module as part of the course on the preschool learning experiences will explain each part of the standard and give examples of how to teach the standard within an integrated curriculum. Through presentations, online resources, readings, and assignments students will gain knowledge of the components of each area: mathematics, English language arts, science and technology/engineering, the arts, and health education, and history and social science. The last module will cover the content of the Early Childhood Program Standards and how to incorporate those standards into daily practice.

In this course, students identify issues in educational or other professional settings on which to focus their critical and creative thinking skills. Each student works through the different stages of research and action - from defining a manageable project to communicating findings and plans for further work. Supervision is provided when the student's research centers on new teaching practices, workshops in the community, or volunteer. The classes run as workshops in which students are introduced to and then practice using tools for research, writing, communicating, and supporting the work of others.

This course investigates the psychosocial aspects of vision loss. Coping techniques and issues of self-esteem are explored, along with principles of self-determination. Other topics include the psychosocial aspects of personal life management such as orientation and mobility, use of volunteers, sexuality, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Psychosocial issues specific to people from diverse cultures are also addressed.

This course covers the basic algebra and technological tools used in the social, physical and life sciences to analyze quantitative information. The emphasis is on real world, open-ended problems that involve reading, writing, calculating, synthesizing, and clearly reporting results. Topics include descriptive statistics, linear, and exponential models. Technology used in the course includes computers (spreadsheets, Internet) and graphing calculators.

This course examines the nature of attitudes, beliefs, and values, and the influences which indiviudals' attitudes have upon their behavior. Various theories of attitude organization and attitude change are discussed, and the development of social attitudes is explored by examining the differential impact of the family, the educational system, the mass media, and the general social environment. The changing content of public opinion over time and its relationship to the political system are also discussed.

The purpose of this course is to provide background in the ways in which psychologists evaluate data collected from research projects. A researcher may gather many pieces of data that describe a group of research subjects and there are common ways in which these pieces of information are presented. Secondly, statistical tests can help investigators draw inferences about the relationship of the research sample to the general population it is supposed to represent. As a student of psychology or any other discipline that uses research data to explore ideas, it is important that you know how data is evaluated and that you gain an understanding of the ways in which these procedures help to summarize and clarify data.

This course focuses on families with members who are substance abusers, and the ways in which these families function. The course explores the methods and resources available for helping such families.

Using Internet Communication enhances students' theoretical understanding of electronic communication and their ability to communicate as professionals, scholars, and citizens using the Internet. Participants learn core communication theoretical models and principles, and apply them to electronic communication methods that enhance interpersonal, small group, and public interactions. These methods include electronic meetings, discussion forums, co-authoring tools, audio, and video.
