Enhance engagement with Kaltura. Kaltura is a tool that allows you to integrate rich media content into your courses. You can use Kaltura to create, host, and share videos, images, and audio files within your courses directly. 

Use Kaltura Capture to record videos of your desktop and webcam then embed them directly in your Blackboard Ultra course. This tool can record two camera inputs simultaneously, or a camera and a screen, or two screens. The recordings are automatically stored in your Kaltura My Media. You can even record and place it directly in your course for ease of use and enhanced student engagement.  

Express Capture allows you to record from the browser without needing to install any software. You can record and embed right in your course where you want the media. Record video or audio directions or course announcements while you are already in Blackboard Ultra. Express Capture will not record the screen only audio and video. 

Kaltura Media Gallery is like My Media. However, it is a storage space for media within your course. Unlike My Media, which is private to you, the Media Gallery is visible to everyone enrolled in the course. You can host multiple videos/media in one place. This allows you to add videos/media from the Media gallery directly to the Course Content page, so you do not have to search for content. 

Kaltura My Media is a private, personal storage space for your media. You can upload and manage your media content (video, audio, and image files). While you are in My Media you may edit video options, manage captions, create clips from your videos, delete videos, publish videos to the Course Media Gallery, and more. 

Kaltura Video Quiz allows you to embed questions or polls within the video for learners to answer as they watch the video. Questions and text can be in the form of multiple choice, true/false, open ended, or a reflection point.  The video will pause at the question then play again once the question has been answered.

A multimedia 1st-year German language program based on videos of native speakers and the UT Summer Program in WŸrzburg, Germany. The online textbook includes recorded vocabulary, phonetics lessons, an online grammar component, online comparative polls and internet writing activities.

Français interactif is a unique, award-winning 1st-year French curriculum used by learners all over the world. Students explore French language and culture by following the lives of real students who have participated in the UT Summer Program in Lyon, France. The online curriculum includes over 320 videos, vocabulary and phonetics audio, online grammar reference with self-correcting exercises and audio dialogues, verb conjugation and practice tools, internet activities, and a textbook of classroom exercises. Franais interactif was awarded the 2009 CALICO Esperanto Access to Language Education Award and the National Endowment for the Humanities EDSITEment Best of Humanities on the Web award (2005)

Reality Czech is a next generation openly licensed Czech textbook and curriculum currently under development by Dr. Christian Hilchey from the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies in collaboration with the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL) at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, a series of videos are available on the website.

Rockin Russian is designed to give students exposure to the Russian language and culture through the medium of Russian music videos. Students are able to perfect their grammar while rocking out to music videos from Russia's pop stars. Based on Russian music videos from MTV Russia, Rockin' Russian is supplemented with exercise materials focusing on pronunciation, vocabulary development, grammar and cultural features. Parts of the videos are embedded into exercises in each category that students can revisit, strengthening their language skills.

A compilation of brief video clips in which native speakers of Spanish from various locations throughout Latin America and Spain demonstrate various language tasks.

The purpose of these materials is to help future public school teachers of Spanish in their assessment of learners' levels of proficiency. These materials not only present videos of learners interacting with an interlocutor, but also direct the viewer to notice features about the learners' language and proficiency levels. The website also presents information on proficiency levels to help the viewer develop a greater awareness of differences in learner language.

The SpinTX video archive provides a convenient web interface to search hundreds of short video clips from the Spanish in Texas Corpus. The collection includes hundreds of video clips culled from interviews of native and heritage speakers of Spanish living in Texas. Each video is accompanied by synchronized closed captions and a transcript that has been annotated with thematic, grammatical, functional and metalinguistic information. All materials available on the site can be freely used, copied, and distributed under a Creative Commons license.

WR 227 Technical Writing

Introduces students to the types of writing they will encounter in business, industry, the academic world and government. It examines the rhetorical nature of writing and asks students to think critically about content, audience, argument and structure. Students will learn how to effectively design documents, present instructions, create proposals and produce technical reports.
