The Advising and Career Experience (ACE) Center is a structural and programmatic merger between the existing academic advising and career development offices. The ACE Center is devoted to increasing equitable student success outcomes through an intentional and cohesive academic advising and career experience. The ACE Center reimagined the College Experience Coach (CEC) who will be responsible for helping students shape their professional college experience from orientation to graduation and beyond. The highlights of this new position will be to coach first-time college students during their first year, bridging their values and interests to program relevance and professional goals. This position will be cross trained as an academic advisor to improve the connection between career and academic planning. The CEC will also take on a caseload of graduating final semester seniors and provide coordinated programming to prepare them for personal and professional success beyond graduation.

The Academic Achievers Program (AAP) was established in 1994. The program's mission is to recruit underrepresented students and increase retention and graduation rates. Members of the Academic Achievers Program are provided with an annual scholarship, tutoring, mentoring, time-management skill sessions, career guidance, and leadership skills. While forging ahead with course platform innovations, the former one-hour course of College Assembly known as Chapel has been redesigned a weekly informative session of an Academic Symposium. This allows students to benefit from the experience of weekly interactions with professors and professionals. Interaction is an essential part of academic life. The symposium allows students to have exposure to division major presentations, and student demonstrations for creative intellectual purposes. The weekly symposiums that were initiated during the first week of the semester have proven to be beneficial. During the weekly interactions, students are given the opportunity to increase networking skills, meet with professors in their majors, improve communication and presentation abilities; plus glean the latest information that can have a positive impact on the Texas College academic community. Each major within the four divisions has committed to design programs for each week such as a major fair, internship orientations, graduate school opportunities, resume writing, financial literacy, soft-skill training, and various other motivational programs. Each session begins with an invocation, weekly announcements, reminders, and a weekly program. The Academic Symposium programming is designed to include the aspiration to respond to expectations of business and industry for core workplace skills mathematics, quantitative, analytical reasoning, written plus oral communication, and critical thinking/problem-solving. Having agreed on the three broad areas to be addressed, each division determined the learning outcomes. Thus, there has been an overwhelming response of attendance by students and faculty participation

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: The Academic Symposium is an influential learning tool for Texas College students. Students can become bored with the day-to-day humdrum of classes, and home. The symposium helps break the monotony of the college routine. In many ways, it can help instill a sense of camaraderie, and school spirit, or even help develop an interest in potential extracurricular activities and future careers.

Achievement Initiative for Minority Males (AIMM)

Core features/target population
In Fall 2016, A&M-SA enrolled a cohort of 171 males of color, of which only 34, or 20%, graduated within 5 years, dovetailing national trends of lower minority male enrollment and graduation in higher education. As a result, the University launched AIMM in Fall 2021, a year-long program to increase the retention, graduation, engagement, and overall success of ethnic minority males on campus.

Participants are expected to increase their knowledge and skills in: time management, academic and leadership development, personal and professional branding, mental and physical health, financial literacy, and civic responsibility. AIMM's holistic approach cultivates a sense of belonging for participants, thus increasing their chances for educational success and future quality of life.

Goals and objectives
Learning Outcomes:
1. By actively participating in A.I.M.M., students will enhance their professional skills through public speaking, resume development, and personal branding.
2. As an A.I.M.M. participant, students will foster mentoring relationships with A&M-SA faculty and staff that contribute to their personal, academic, and professional development as student leaders.
3. A.I.M.M. identifies and utilizes academic-related resources and tools to support its member's academic performance in the classroom.
4. A.I.M.M. provides opportunities for participants to connect with campus resources, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the San Antonio community by providing a holistic approach cultivating a sense of belonging.
5. Participating in service-learning projects, A.I.M.M. participants will recognize the importance of community service and civic responsibility through personal involvement and municipal engagement with A&M-SA and the San Antonio community.
A.I.M.M. participants will participate in initiatives to improve their health holistically. This includes but is not limited to students' physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health and well-being.
7. As an A.I.M.M. participant, students will enter into a brotherhood bound by shared values, principles, attitudes, and beliefs.
8. A.I.M.M. will promote positive self-identity development by creating safe spaces for students to examine their own experiences and identities and to allow them to express it freely.

The AlamoEXPERIENCE Experiential Learning Model Task Force members of over 100 plus cross-college faculty and staff of the Alamo Colleges District, developed an experiential learning model to guide and affirm students of the Alamo Colleges’ career choice. The opportunities were categorized into four types, and defined as Co-curricular, Field Experience, Service Learning/Community Service, and Extra-curricular activities. The AlamoEXPERIENCE transcript, a verified record of involvement, captures students’ completion of opportunities, demonstrates the students’ completion of the NACE Career Readiness Competencies, and knowledge obtained during the experience.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: The Alamo College District’s student job board increased students’ unique logins by 140%, with a 408% increase in student job applications from FY21 to FY22. The Certified Career Experience Navigators provide a coordinated student connection, enabling Navigators to provide career readiness and experiential learning service appointments at each of the five colleges. The impact is a 273% increase in students serviced via Navigate FS from last Fall ’21 to Fall ‘22. Fall ‘20 to Fall ’22, the AlamoEXPERIENCE Model college staffing teams doubled the number of students with 45+ hours who completed an experiential learning activity before graduation.

The mission of the Temple College Center for Teaching and Learning is to encourage student success by promoting collaboration among learning communities and providing evidence-based resources that empower faculty and staff to test and refine innovative practices.

We work with faculty and staff in a variety of methods to achieve this mission. Our current work focuses on best practices in equity, using peer review, book clubs, and intentional design for our most vulnerable students. The CTL works on the premise of a growth mindset for our faculty and staff, building learning communities in which we learn from each other. Child Care Scholarships

ACC makes childcare scholarships available to low-income student parents. The core features of the childcare scholarship program are 1) case management and 2) parent choice. Students who accept a childcare scholarship must agree to participate in intensive case management with a Student Advocate to help with clarity of goals and decisionmaking, referrals to additional supports and on-going problem-solving and personal support. Students who receive the scholarship may select the childcare provider of their choice. ACC arranges for payment directly with the provider. Students must pay the difference between the amount of their scholarship and the total cost of care charged by the provider. The goals of the childcare scholarships are 1) to improve the semester to semester persistence rates of student parents and 2) to improve the graduation rates of student parents. Funding for the program come from ACC's Perkins grant and from institutional sources.

The College, Career, & Financial Health (CCFH) outreach program was created to encourage and assist with postsecondary enrollment for elementary through secondary school students in Victoria College’s service area. The CCFH Coordinator is responsible for facilitating a pipeline to postsecondary enrollment from a very early age.Through various financial literacy sessions, students are able to explore career and college opportunities, as well as identify smart financial habits and options for future goals. Specifically, at the high school level, the CCFH Coordinator works diligently to increase the percent of service area secondary students who complete the ApplyTexas application, submit their FAFSA, and complete at least one scholarship application before high school graduation.

The Dallas College Conversion Program seeks to ensure that specific populations maintain momentum when engaging the enrollment process. Specifically, it ensures that students who "apply and not enroll" are monitored and engaged. These are students that despite numerous traditional outreach attempts do not take action and are "stuck" in some part of the enrollment pipeline. Additionally, the program seeks to actively re-engage students that have stop-out/dropped-out in recent years (typically going back (2) two academic years) and intentionally connecting and providing very focused service supports for their anticipated return. The Conversion Program's overarching goal is to provide added and intentional support to engage/re-engage students that might have mitigating circumstances that do not allow them to move forward in the academic endeavors.

Success Coaching at Dallas College offers concierge-style case-management and support through a learning care model to improve the student experience, eliminate barriers, strengthen student persistence, completion, and success. Through proactive case management, success coaching guides learners through their academic journey by empowering and inspiring them with caring, relatable, knowledgeable, and accessible strategies.

All Dallas College students are assigned a success coach who help students navigate college life and keep them on track throughout their academic journey. Success coaches engage students in comprehensive and customized success planning to fit their individual needs. Success Coaches are responsible for helping to orient students to college life, guiding students through initial discussions on career exploration and first-year courses selections, leveraging technology to track student progress towards academic and career goals, and liaising between the student and a broad network of internal and external resources designed to provide wrap-around support and eliminate any barriers that could impact the student's success.

Students may access success coaching services in multiple modalities including scheduled appointments, walk-ins, online conferencing, phone, and email correspondence. Success coaching services are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 12midnight to ensure all students have equitable access to support services.

PROGRAM SCALE: Large-scale (reaches more than 25 percent of its intended target population)

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: Preliminary data from Fall 2022 shows that success coaching had a positive impact on persistence. Students in all categories (first time in college, continuing, transfer in, transient, charter, dual credit, early college high school) who scheduled appointment(s) with a success coach had higher persistence rates than students who did not meet with their coach. Students who scheduled two or more appointments with a success coach had even higher persistence rates.
