Houston Community College TLE OER Certified Course for ARTS 1304.
This is an Arts 1304 History of Art II course that compiles online OER resources primarily from Smarthistory.org, an OER art history textbook, and other online materials produced by art museums including videos and art historical essays. Developed by Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University-Commerce, this is a Texas Core Course in Creative Arts designed to replace expensive commonly used textbooks with OER content adaptable for Texas art history instructors using various learning manage systems.*Unless otherwise noted all entries are licensed under Creative Commons-Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
This is an art history textbook with content covering media, art techniques, and art history. This resource is published by Boise State University.
This open resource was created by Texas Woman’s University undergraduate students in an upper-level visual arts course titled Issues in Contemporary Art. Working in groups, the students created at total of seven lesson plans that explore the themes: Art and Disability, Dark Surrealism, Eco-Art, Expressing Identity with the Human Body, Kitsch in Art, Mental Health/Illness in Art, and The Gaze Sexuality and Perceptions of the Female Body. The themes covered in the lesson plans were student-generated and reflect current student interests in contemporary art. Each lesson plan contains a curated background reading list, suggested artists and artworks to examine, discussion questions, short artist biographies, and additional resources. The structure of the lesson plan is modeled after the Art History Teaching Resources (AHTR) (http://arthistoryteachingresources.org/).
World Art History: Multicultural Connections covers material in World Art History I & II courses exploring art from across the world during a specified time frame. This course remixes Boundless Art History, created by Boundless and imported to the Lumen Platform, and offers additional open resources developed by Sara Ishii, PhD from Texas Woman’s University.
