This very robust initiative is our University's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). In an effort to ultimately impact academic success, it proposes to address issues and challenges related to the “whole student.” The plan proposes activities that directly engage students as soon as they express an interest in the university. It also proposes activities that support and empower students to matriculate beyond the first year and ultimately progress to graduation. The primary thrust of this plan includes targeted interventions during the initial months of enrollment designed to help students have a strong acclimation to the University from the onset. TSU has identified a topic through its ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes, that include 14 key areas across campus ranging from Admissions, Financial Aid, Information Technology and Campus Engagement.

Austin Community College’s new, all-inclusive scholarship program supports students focused on starting a career immediately after ACC. Career Scholars receive financial and academic support while working toward a certificate or associate degree in an approved area of study. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees — for a total of $5,000 disbursed over a period of up to 3 years — and ensures recipients have the guidance and support they need to reach their goals. Career Scholars builds holistic support services around the students, with rich career service resources and academic support in an effort to 1) alleviate financial barriers that often prevent underserved student populations from attaining a higher ed credential; 2) support students academically while enhancing their career skills, and 3) give students exposure to potential internships with industry partners in their area of study. The unique Career Scholars program serves two categories of students: graduating high school seniors and current ACC adult learners. Participants in the High School Career Scholars program work toward a certificate or associate degree in a field that was identified by the Texas Workforce Commission as having high demand and earning potential. These fields are: Arts, Digital Media & Communications; Business; Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering; Education; Health Care; Manufacturing/Skilled Trades; Public & Social Services. The Career Scholars Program for adults is open to adult learners interested in the following career areas, which have strong hiring and salary opportunities: Accounting/Bookkeeping; Computer Sciences; Health Care; Manufacturing; and Applied Tech/Skilled Trades.

Achieving Completion through Innovation Vision and Team Engagement (ACTIVATE) is a program especially designed for men of color at Texarkana College (TC). ACTIVATE will serve 10-12 students each year with the goal of matriculation at TC. Students in ACTIVATE will be a part of a cohort that seeks to equip them with the necessary skills to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom. ACTIVATE includes mentoring, community engagement, financial literacy training, leadership development, weekly meetings, materials for instruction, and a stipend scholarship. ACTIVATE participants have the opportunity to build communication and relationship skills through peer mentoring and collaboration with Texas A&M University-Texarkana Personal Achievement through Help (PATH) program participants.

The Academic Achievers Program (AAP) was established in 1994. The program's mission is to recruit underrepresented students and increase retention and graduation rates. The Advising Students for Success project fall in line with the intent of the Accelerate Student Success Planning Grant. Through the Accelerate Student Success Planning Grant, our project will begin to improve our efforts of advising support to our students.
Project Goals and Objectives:
- Improve an advising model and move it to a student success model that is receptive to students (e.g. transfer students, specialized student populations (i.e. athletes, online/distance learners, etc.) and disciplines.
- Increase retention and timely progress to degree benchmarks by leveraging technology platforms
- Ease institutional barriers to ensure students can graduate in four years
- Increase high impact practices by providing training for all student success coaches to promote student success
- Post-completion goals (e.g., obtaining employment, continuing education, career advancement, economic development). We believe we are on track to accomplish many of the objectives.

The Ascender program began at Austin Community College in 2015. The mission of the program is to increase the educational attainment of Latinx students and other underserved communities in order to close equity gaps. That is, the Ascender program seeks to move ACC from a Hispanic serving institution to a Hispanic graduating institution by accelerating Latinx students, who are overrepresented in developmental education, to college-level coursework, and providing a structure of support to increase persistence and graduation. Ascender provides students with the academic, social, and leadership opportunities they need to graduate from community college, transfer and earn bachelor's degrees, and return to the community as leaders and mentors. The Ascender program is structured as a first-year experience program that provides wrap-around services including academic, student success, and community engagement components. Familia is at the heart of each component of the program. For instance, students move through their coursework as a learning community, developing affective and social bonds that ease their transition to college. In addition to the learning communities that provide support in academic coursework, Ascender hosts events, such as the Noche de Familia (family night), field trips to colleges/universities, motivational conferences, and other cultural events to further cohere the sense of belonging students feel at ACC. Because many Ascender students are first-generation college students, Ascender provides one-on-one mentoring through a volunteer mentoring program designed to introduce students to a network of role models and coaches that helps guide their first-year college experience. The network of Ascender mentors helps to facilitate greater navigation of sometimes challenging institutional structures.

Transmountain ECHS/EPCC strive to encourage and recruit students in the target populations of At-Risk, students with disabilities, low socio-economic, Emergent Bilinguals (EB), minorities and historically under-served communities. Indeed El Paso ISD's and EPCC's demographics are well-represented in these areas. Campus Leadership Teams meet regularly to brainstorm, plan and implement strategies focused on recruiting target-population students. Additionally, TMECHS staff works with all district middle schools to ensure dissemination of open communication and accurate information to all students. TMECHS wants students to know that they all can, and should, apply to TMECHS and have the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree during high school.

The Athletic Cohort Advising Model was developed to increase success, retention, and graduation rates among athletes. Each athletic group is assigned an academic advisor who will work with them from admissions to graduation. The academic advisor works closely with admissions, financial aid, student life, scholarship office, athletic coaching staff, and faculty. The advising model includes grade/attendance checks, advising check-ins, completion of a career inventory, declared pathway, and transfer information. The objectives include students will declare a pathway major during the first semester of attendance, students will earn 24-30 hours of credit during first year, students will be informed on career pathway regarding education, salary, and job expectancy, and students will earn a degree within 5 semesters.

Best Achievement Strategies for College (BASC) is a system-wide, university orientation course created to encourage traditional and non-traditional students to persist to degree completion. The class focuses on three elements: the development of a growth mindset, the early identification of a major and career, and the hands-on involvement in service learning. BASC is offered face-to-face on the residential campus, each external campus and online, each with a slightly different student population. The course is designed to assist and empower first-year learners with strategies and information to support the successful launch of their college career. Faculty from each academic school on the Plainview campus offer discipline-specific sections of the course, allowing students to make connections with faculty in their primary area of study while receiving information and success strategies specific to that major and profession. Throughout the semester, students learn about growth mindset, and receive information about student services, the writing center, the library, tutoring, and health and wellness, as well as strategies such as time and financial management, study skills, note taking, and learning styles. Students explore their interests, skills, and career goals upon choosing a major and are assisted one-on-one with registering for classes for their second semester. Members of the BASC course also participate in a service-learning project that ties discipline-specific activities to community service. The Best Academic Strategies for College (BASC) course is designed to make the transition to college a little less stressful by making information, strategies, and services readily available.

Building Bridges to Success (BBS) is part of the nationwide TRIO Student Support Services program funded by the Department of
Education. The BBS program at Galveston College is designed to provide academic and student support services for approximately
206 first-generation, low-income students, and students with disabilities. The goals of BBS are to increase student retention in classes,
completion of certificates and degrees, graduation from college, and transfer to universities. Services include:

The Connect Mentorship Program (known by students as Connect) is a year-long mentorship program aimed at retaining students of color at SMU. The program has two parts: the Connect Institute and Peer Mentorship. Connect helps incoming students of color become effective, successful, and engaged members of SMU through peer mentoring. C.O.R.E. Coyote Orientation and Registration Experience

C.O.R.E. is required for FITC students or students that have been out of college 5+ years. Face to face attendance through one of the 10 offered dates is recommended, but an online option is available.

C.O.R.E. is an all day event that walks students through non-cognitive and career assessments, plan courses for first semester, make advising appointment, learn more about their pathway of choice, assign a faculty mentor, and take them to various resources on campus with speakers at each location, via a campus tour.

Career Academy is a dual credit workforce program in a high demand career that leads to a college level 1 certificate while in high school or the summer immediately following high school graduation. Austin Community College offers five Career Academies to help you land an in-demand job as soon as possible in the field of construction, education, manufacturing, health sciences, or IT. Career Academy classes are intended for workforce entry, not university transfer. However, some credits may be applied toward an associate degree. Tuition and fees are waived for participating in-district students. Out-of-district students qualify for significant discounts and pay just $150 per course. These discounts are good for up to 12 courses, after which regular tuition and fees are assessed for both groups. Classes are taught by ACC faculty on ACC campuses (or virtually, when necessary).

The Circle of Access and Retention in Education (CARE) will examine structures, processes, and culture for a comprehensive approach to change success for our students, particularly adult learners of color, by changing our processes and by providing additional support to increase persistence and completion rates. The CARE project expands the college's work in becoming a student-ready college through the creation of holistic student support redesign by focusing on key priority areas: a redesign of Student Enrollment Services, the reimagining of the student orientation experience, small-scale pilots of holistic student support including embedded tutors and peer mentors, and professional development for staff and faculty to support these efforts. Cisco College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Making Connections, focuses on student success, a value at the core of the College's Mission and strategic plan. The QEP is designed to improve the student experience in online courses. It has two goals. The first is to connect students to support resources such as an online new student orientation, online LMS orientation, and online tutoring. The second goal is to connect faculty to professional development, including internal webinars, self-paced courses in the LMS, guest speakers, a repository of resources housed in the LMS, and an online course design checklist. Through the QEP, the College seeks to increase the online course success rate to 85% and decrease the annual withdrawal rate to 5% by 2025.

The College Access program is intended to provide equitable access for high school seniors who wish to pursue higher education. We provide a comprehensive framework for access and recruitment of seniors in Tarrant County.

Overview of all sessions conducted at the high school:
TCC 101 - deliver information during either English or Government classes regarding general information about TCC and they can opt-in. Students complete an interest card/form and become part of the cohort group that will complete the steps below to get them to enrollment.

Admissions Application - provide step-by-step assistance with completing the TCC admissions application.

Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) – administer the State-required activity for students who need to take the TSI Assessment which provides students with instruction on how to prepare for the test.

TSI Assessment (administered at one of the TCC Campuses or at the high school) – coordinate with testing center staff to offer an opportunity for students to complete the assessment in the areas of Math, Reading, and Writing, as needed. Students get to test for free.

Financial Aid Assistance – Coordinate presentation with Financial Aid staff to go out to the high schools and inform students about financial aid and scholarship information to include completion of FAFSA/TASFA.

Case-Management/- Interpret TSI Assessment scores and support students throughout their senior year with on-going general advisement and parent information sessions.

Parent Nights (conducted at TCC campus) – Parents are invited to attend an information session and find out the status of their student and what they have completed and what they still lack.

Summer follow-up – continue to communicate with students via post-cards, phone, chat, text, in-person to remind them to complete any of the steps they need in order to register (meningitis, re-test, transcripts, orientation, see an advisor, etc.).

PROGRAM SCALE: Large-scale (reaches more than 25 percent of its intended target population)

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: Historically students who participate in our program have had higher success rates compared to the general FTIC population. Data from the past 10 years show fall to fall retention, on average, is about 11% higher than the general FTIC students; fall to spring about 6% higher, and 4-year graduation rate average is 3% higher.

Complete U at TSU is geared toward recruiting students from five community colleges partners, including: Alvin Community College, College of the Mainland, Galveston College, Houston Community College, and Lone Star College to assist students with successfully transferring into Texas Southern University and completing their baccalaureate degree. Students from these institutions are supported through orientation/onboarding, scholarships, and career planning.

These learning communities pair a subject-intensive (math or English) UNIV Freshman Seminar course with a gateway course in the subject as a form of corequisite remediation that takes the place of developmental education to help students achieve the status of TSI Complete.
