The Academic Success Center's embedded tutoring program provides equitable access to academic support by aligning support between the instructor, the tutor, and the course content. Embedded tutors provide support to students enrolled in gateway courses such as MATH 1314 College Algebra, CHEM 1411 General Chemistry I, MATH 1420 Calculus, and more. The Academic Success Center identifies potential equity gaps in end-of-course outcomes and provides scaffolded and aligned academic support using in- and out-of-class tutoring. Tutors provide in-class support during classroom practice and activities, particularly in active learning classrooms. Tutors provide out-of-class support in study groups, one-on-one tutoring sessions, and review sessions. Tutoring services are located in a centralized tutoring and mentoring center inside the campus library to provide access to connect students to different support services. All tutoring is also available online.

The Ascender program began at Austin Community College in 2015. The mission of the program is to increase the educational attainment of Latinx students and other underserved communities in order to close equity gaps. That is, the Ascender program seeks to move ACC from a Hispanic serving institution to a Hispanic graduating institution by accelerating Latinx students, who are overrepresented in developmental education, to college-level coursework, and providing a structure of support to increase persistence and graduation. Ascender provides students with the academic, social, and leadership opportunities they need to graduate from community college, transfer and earn bachelor's degrees, and return to the community as leaders and mentors. The Ascender program is structured as a first-year experience program that provides wrap-around services including academic, student success, and community engagement components. Familia is at the heart of each component of the program. For instance, students move through their coursework as a learning community, developing affective and social bonds that ease their transition to college. In addition to the learning communities that provide support in academic coursework, Ascender hosts events, such as the Noche de Familia (family night), field trips to colleges/universities, motivational conferences, and other cultural events to further cohere the sense of belonging students feel at ACC. Because many Ascender students are first-generation college students, Ascender provides one-on-one mentoring through a volunteer mentoring program designed to introduce students to a network of role models and coaches that helps guide their first-year college experience. The network of Ascender mentors helps to facilitate greater navigation of sometimes challenging institutional structures.

The CARE Program was designed to assist with academic difficulties by enhancing the learning experience of its students. CARE creates an academic support network focused on the individual needs of each student and provides strategic resources for students to make well-educated choices for the remainder of their educational career. The process involves identifying students who will be on probation, or who are currently on probation, with whom we can help get back on track via self-assessments, Success Agreements, meetings with the Retention Coordinator, and various prescribed agreements, such as professional tutoring, mentoring, and academic coaching.

This Articulation will serve as the foundation guidelines for converting Continuing Education Units (CEU) to Semester Credit Hours (SCH) through Laredo College's Continuing Education Department and Workforce Divisions. This agreement is a mechanism to allow students who have completed specified Continuing Education­ Integrated Education & Training non-credit course(s) to be granted college credit through articulation. The corequisite model at Amarillo College, for math and English, is a paired model with a 3-hour transfer course and a 3-hour support course. The corequisite model decreases time to completion by enrolling academically underprepared students in transfer-level classes, thereby eliminating the elongated timeline of the traditional prerequisite developmental education pathway. Academically underprepared students are treated as a cohort, enrolling in both sections for a total of 6 hours, and are not commingled in the transfer-level course. The support course functions like a lab or workshop and does not have a separate Developmental Education curriculum. Amarillo College uses embedded tutors in the support course to assist the instructor with one-on-one and group tutoring sessions. The transfer-level courses are: English Composition I, College Algebra, Mathematics for Business & Social Sciences, Contemporary Mathematics, and College Algebra for STEM Majors.

This program is to help academically underprepared students to complete their college level Math and English courses within the first two semesters. This is a cohort model where students stay together through their courses. In addition they receive mandatory tutoring and academic coaching that are free of charge. The Early Alert system is also included in this model, and the academic support specialists keep in touch with the students throughout the entire semester.

The Early Start Summer Program (ESSP) was implemented summer 2017, a summer bridge-style program for high school graduates who will be first-time entering freshmen. Designed to accelerate credit accumulation, enhance self-confidence and self-efficacy, and foster a sense of belonging, ESSP included a full-bodied cohort college experience in a summer term. Much like the CUNY ASAP program, students are placed in blocked courses, are offered supplemental instruction opportunities, are assigned a peer mentor, participate in social and civic activities such as community service, and receive specialized advising and orientation. Students can earn up to 12 semester credit hours in transferrable coursework and receive a substantive reduction in tuition.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: One cohort, students entering as first-time freshmen in the summer of 2017, has matriculated through to completion. The ESSP students within this cohort had a higher graduation (four-year) and retention rate than that of the 2017 total entering freshmen cohort. Due to its model of credit acceleration, nearly half graduated early (i.e., within 3-3.5 years). Post-program focus group data revealed that students preferred to receive the same degree of support throughout their entire first year.

The Integrated Education and Training (IET)- Contextualized Learning allows students seeking a high school equivalency credential or English language attainment the opportunity to participate and complete a credential of value that could ultimately lead to a career advancement and/or 'stackable' higher education degrees. The IET skills training leads to a high wage, high demand occupation and runs simultaneously with the GED and ESL program, additionally including a course that is focused on the reading, writing, verbal, and/or math skills needed to achieve and exceed in the training and career field. The IET program allows a student to accelerate the transition between an academic readiness program into workforce preparation training, which ultimately leads to credential completion and employment. JumpStart is a supportive five week academic program designed to aid students towards meeting Texas’s College Readiness standards while enhancing their ability to access and connect with the vast resources and opportunities available within the university. JumpStart Scholars are incoming freshmen who are working towards meeting the Texas College Readiness standards. The purpose of the program is to create a network of resources for the participants. Initially funded by a Title V grant for Hispanic-Serving Institutions from the US Department of Education, CASA is Connecting students to the campus community, Acclimating them to the rigors of academic life, helping them Succeed academically, and preparing them to Achieve and compete in college and beyond. The program guides students through the four CASA phases through three initiatives. Information Technology Enhanced Multidisciplinary Academic Learning Lounges (iMALLS) and the Center for Academic Advising and Transition (CAST) are designed to connect students to resources and opportunities to improve academic preparedness while Meaningfully Aligned Targeted Curriculum for Hispanic Students (MATCH) ensures students are receiving best-fit instruction based on proven methods. These three initiatives encompass twelve activities to engage students in research-based programs that facilitate in students a sense of belonging, influence, competence and efficacy. MATCH activities have assisted in increasing the number of students graduating with a degree or certificate within three years from a baseline of 14% to 26%. Hispanic completion was 25%. CAST tutoring and advising activities assisted in increasing the three-year transfer rate of students from a baseline of 6% to 12%. Hispanic transfer was 11%. iMALL activities have assisted in increasing the fall-to-fall persistence of FTIC fulltime students by 7% over the 2014 baseline of 50%. Hispanic student persistence was 61%.

MSI is a jam-packed five-week program held during the month of July exclusively for incoming freshmen students at the University of St. Thomas. The Institute helps our newest Celts prepare for the rigors of UST. When not in class, students build meaningful friendships with fellow incoming freshmen as well as with established Mendenhall Mentors by going on excursions around Houston and activities beyond the classroom.

By the end of July, students will have completed 6 elective credit hours, will have received a head start applying to on-campus jobs, and will be more confident in their abilities to thrive at UST.

Ms. Mendenhall, who founded MSI 15 years ago, gives 30 students in the Institute a $1,000 per semester for up to 8 semesters scholarship. These scholarships are distributed based on need and participation in the program.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: We have found that students who participate in Mendenhall retain at a significantly higher rate than their peers. Our Mendenhallers retain at about a 94% rate and go on to graduate higher than their peers as well. Additionally, our students assume leadership roles more regularly than their peers because of their level of comfort with the institution.

NC offers both academic transferable coursework and workforce education. Workforce education is led in two divisions at NC in the divisions of Workforce Career and Technical Education and Health Professions. Workforce Career and Technical Education at Navarro College includes programs that lead to level I, level II, and Associates of Applied Science degrees in Agricultural Mechanization, Computer Programming, Cosmetology, Petroleum Technology, Child Development, Paralegal, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Welding Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Mental Health, Message Therapy, Business, and Accounting. Health Professions at Navarro College include: Occupational Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Registered Nurse, and Vocational Nursing. Over the last year Navarro College has focused marketing and recruitment efforts to implement and expand new programs in the CTE area. In the Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022, the following programs were targeted for marketing initiatives for growth:

analysis of data focused on the 6 Parts: Part 1. Student Performance, Part 2. Size, Scope, and Quality of Programs, Part 3. Labor Market Alignment, Part 4. CTE Program/Programs of Study Implementation, Part 5. Faculty/Staff Recruitment, Retention and Training, and Part 6. Improving Access & Equity.

The Primary Care Pathway Program (PCPP) is a partnership between the University of North Texas Health Science Center, University of North Texas, Midland College and Midland Memorial Hospital. The program seeks to provide physicians in the Midland-Odessa and West Texas region by offering an accelerated pathway from a community college to an osteopathic medical school. Students complete their first two years at Midland College, the third year at the University of North Texas, and the final four years at the University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to the accelerated curriculum, the program provides advisement and experiences to prepare students for the rigors of medical school. Ultimately, the program aims to recruit students who wish to practice in the Midland area.

The Rice Emerging Scholars Program (RESP) is an innovative, residential academic program designed to help first-year students prepare for the challenging pace, depth, and rigor of the STEM curricula at Rice. Unique among programs of its kind at highly selective institutions, RESP's approach to college transition and success is comprehensive, combining a rigorous six-week academic summer bridge program with personalized and holistic mentoring and support for the duration of the college experience.

RESP's mission is to ensure that students of high potential who attended under-resourced high schools, particularly low-income and first-generation students, persist, thrive, and graduate at the same rate as their peers, and that these students achieve their academic and professional aspirations as scientists and engineers.

RESP is designed to ensure that students who would most benefit from the program are not excluded due to cost. Accordingly, RESP Scholars attend the summer program at no cost and receive a stipend for their participation. They also enjoy a personalized array of mentoring and support services throughout their time at Rice.

In fulfilling its charge to help these students meet all the challenges they face, RESP comprehensively addresses their particular academic and navigational needs together with other challenges unique to students from underserved communities. And RESP stands with them from before they matriculate until after they graduate -- this is what it means to provide an environment in which students may "thrive."
