    Overview

Video demonstration experiments show the laws and concepts in action.

    Damped Oscillations

A spring and mass system is hanging off a force sensor. The force sensor records the tension force in the spring and once we displace the mass from its point of equilibrium, we will see that the force vs time  graph shows simple harmonic motion with weak damping.  The experiment is repeated with a pie pan attached to the mass. The mass-pie pan system will experience much higher air resistance, resulting in stronger damping.
