About me

Hello everyone!

I teach psychology courses in a 2-year college in Southeast Texas. I am relatively new to the OER initiative and I am still a new learner in this area. I teach one course (General Psychology) in which I am now using an OER textbook, available from OpenStax.

Students in my classes have been enthusiastic about having a no-cost textbook and their response has been quite positive.

I am currently investigating OER possibilities for the other course I teach, Lifespan Psychology. I look forward to meeting you as the OER Academy begins. One of my current OER interests, in addition to selecting OER textbooks, is creating OER materials.

I appreciate this opportunity to learn more about OER materials and the many ways OER can help students in my classes as well as me to be more successful using no-cost and low-cost learning support resources.

I feel somewhat intimidated by the vast OER universe and the large amount of OER materials available to me and other education professionals as well as students. At the same time, I am excited and energized to know there are so many OER materials available.

I also appreciate that there are many OER expert guides available to those of us who are taking our first steps toward more knowledge and skill in this area.

I realize and feel grateful that there are many education professionals interested in OER and who would like to see OER be used effectively at all levels of educational and academic achievement.
