The TRIO Student Support Services program (SSS) at Sul Ross State University is a student retention program funded by the U.S. Department of Education that serves 160 students per year.

The mission of the Student Support Services program is to provide supportive educational services that will assist students with an academic need that are low income, first generation, or have a documented disability to acquire a university college degree.

The program offers academic advising, career/major counseling, personal support, classroom instruction, academic workshops, tutoring, financial aid counseling, new student extended orientation, graduate admission assistance, social/cultural activities, and much more.

The TRIO program at Sul Ross State University actively motivates our students to come into the SSS office to meet with their SSS Retention Specialist, SSS tutors and mentors, and attend SSS workshops as well as participating in University-based activities.

The Summer Success Program at NTCC is a program designed to help local students transition from high school to college. All graduating high school seniors are invited to attend. The students are allowed to live on campus for free during the summer session on Sunday throughThursday and return home for the weekends. Students must be enrolled in six hours of class and attend tutoring, mentoring, and social skills workshops. Our staff works closely with the students to provide financial assistance for the summer classes.

Susan Harwood Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces and to inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act. Targeted Topic grants focus on training workers and employers on occupational safety and health hazards associated with one of the selected OSHA-selected training topics. OSHA selected topics vary from year to year and are selected based on fatal statistics, national emphasis programs, and pending regulations. Topics are separated into general industry, construction, and other. Safety is paramount, especially in the warehousing field which employs more than half a million people across the nation. South Texas College's goal is to help to reduce the number of work-related accidents, injuries, and deaths in STC’s service area by conducting training in the Targeted Topic of Warehousing. Today, more than ever, building a strong pipeline of skilled American workers is critical for companies to grow their business and compete in the 21st century global economy. Top companies and organizations are leading the way in developing and training a world-class workforce by partnering with Apprenticeship USA. Apprenticeship USA is a way for companies to document, organize, and showcase their current work-based learning and apprenticeship programs that meet industry and national standards for registration with the U.S Department of Labor. Apprenticeship USA promotes flexible apprenticeship models that can be customized to meet the needs of nearly every type of business and is integrated into existing training and human resource development practices. It’s an employer-driven training model that combines on-the-job learning with related classroom instruction to increase an apprentice’s skill level, opportunities, and wages.

Student Success Services (SSS) is a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program’s mission is to help eligible students succeed at Weatherford College (WC), graduate and/or transfer to a university to complete a degree. SSS participants are provided personal academic advising, individual development plans, tutoring and supplemental instruction, financial aid assistance, personal counseling, career advising, transfer assistance through campus tours and cooperative advising with transfer admissions offices, and cultural enrichment. Western Texas College's Student Support Services seeks to provide 165 participants with an environment that fosters educational and personal growth for low-income and first-generation students and students with disabilities. Following comprehensive, individualized assessment, participants will take part in a Summer Bridge program prior to their first year. For over two decades, the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Frank Phillips College (FPC) has promoted student success by helping students to overcome the barriers that might otherwise prevent them from achieving their goals. This federally-funded Title IV program serves 165 students annually who are first generation, low-income (as defined by federal income standards), and/or are students with a documented disability or impairment. The primary goal of the TRiO SSS program is to give our students every possible tool to express their full potential here at FPC and beyond. The TX Reskilling Grant provides aid to Texas students who were within one year of completing a qualified post-secondary degree or certificate program, but were forced to drop out of their program prior to the Fall 2020 semester because of hardships caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. THECB funding for this program is from the federal CARES Act appropriation to the State of Texas under the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund. Eligible students who have completed the FAFSA will be entitled to receive from $500 to $2,500 to cover tuition and fees, the aggregate cost of which is not covered by other available assistance programs such as Pell grants. Upon application, this assistance will be available to students for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters within 2021. All funding under this program must be expended solely for grants to students.

The Tarrant To & Through Partnership aims to ensure more Tarrant County students have the training and skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce. The Tarrant To & Through (T3) Partnership commits to: 1) Supporting your student on their journey to graduate high school; 2) Helping them create a customized plan for life after high school; 3) Ensuring they complete a degree or credential to attain a meaningful career and living-wage job. When your student takes the T3 Pledge, we'll help them build a customized plan focused on life after high school called a "Postsecondary Success Plan". The TRUE grant is intended to accelerate the number of high-value credential opportunities offered to students that are urgently needed for economic recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the future competitive workforce in Texas. Funding has been provided to El Paso Community College (EPCC) for the creation, expansion, or redesign of postsecondary workforce credential programs in a growing occupational field that is industry-aligned and
developed with the participation of postsecondary lower-division institutions and workforce actors such as workforce and economic development boards or associations, industry representatives or employers. The current project assisted in the following programs; Emergency Medical Technician Certification and Level 1 Certificate, Medical Assisting Level 1 Certificate, Patient Care Technician certification, Electrocardiography Technician certification,
Phlebotomist, and HIMA programs design and creation of Health IT Informatics certificate. The allowable grant categories as outlined in the budget include curriculum development and instructional design; software, equipment, and infrastructure that support instruction; student financial aid; student supports; faculty hiring and training capacity; cost of off-the-shelf credential and training materials; marketing and outreach cost; and costs associated with data administration and reporting by the grantee. The grant provided up to a $2,500/semester award for 65 out of the 84 students’ expenses (tuition and fees, books, and preclearance requirements for clinical rotations, including immunizations, background checks, drug screening, physical exam, etc.). Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.

The Transfer Mentor Program

The mission of the Transfer Mentor Program is to cultivate an environment of student leadership through mentoring that assists transfer students with the transition to college life and fosters a strong sense of belonging through academic engagement, social involvement and community service.

College presents many challenges, both academically and socially. The Transfer Mentor Program was created to connect incoming transfer students with current UT Dallas students who also transferred to the University. Transfer students who choose to join the Transfer Mentor Program are paired with a student mentor to help ease the transition to UT Dallas, specifically during their first two semesters at the University. Peer mentors at UT Dallas work to mentor new students in the following three areas: leadership development, academic support, and social engagement. In addition to providing personalized support for each mentee, the Transfer Mentor Program hosts service, academic, and social events throughout the year for participants to engage on-campus and with the program more deeply.

The University Leadership Network is a data-driven research-informed strategic program within the departments of Undergraduate Equity and Excellence that utilizes a holistic approach to serving students. Based on the core functions of building community, developing leadership skills, career readiness via experiential learning and financial literacy. ULN sets ambitious goals for its students and helps prepare them for life beyond graduation.

Over the course of four years, students earn incentive-based awards up to $20,000 ($5,000/yr) by completing programmatic milestones like maintaining full-time enrollment status, participating in experiential learning opportunities and leadership/professional development curriculum. Incentive-based awards have two main goals: to provide students with additional financial support to reduce financial need and to provide incentives for academic progress. The University Leadership Network selects 350 to 400 high-achieving students each academic year to participate in the program. Selection is based on FAFSA documentation utilizing the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC).

Analyses of the efficacy of ULN shows that participation in ULN significantly improves retention and graduation rates. These outcomes demonstrate how ULN is an innovative and effective intervention for postsecondary student success. Over the past 9 years, ULN continuously achieved positive outcomes as a result of the intentional programming and personalized support offered by staff members.

The Angelo State University Veterans Educational and Transitional Services (VETS) Center is responsible for the administration of US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits and supporting the administration of other military service related benefits like tuition assistance and the state of Texas Hazlewood Exemption. It is a team of veterans and university administrators whose secondary missions are taking care of our VETS Center's student clientele, to include their development both academically and personally, as well as providing collaborative assistance in support of our students and the university in general to the other sections of Student Affairs, the Faculty and Academic Affairs Division, the External Affairs Division, and the Finance Division.

The VETS Center endeavors to live up to our university’s core values every day. We expect integrity both from our employees and our student clientele and when shortcomings are identified, we mentor our people on the best ways to do and be better in the future. The military (both those active and those that have completed their contracted service) live in an incredibly diverse environment. This continues in the VETS Center. We work to develop our clientele to be part of an organization, and as a team we care most about what the individual can do to help the team succeed. Higher education is a pathway that can change the future, not just for our students, but their families as well. When our students graduate and move on to their careers, we know we have made an impact on their lives.

PRELIMINARY OUTCOMES DATA: The average first-year retention rate of VETS Center students is 68.7%, roughly 12 percentage points higher than that of the overall student body. VETS Center students also have a six-year graduation rate of 57.5%, compared to an institutional average of 37%.

WBU's Multidisciplinary Tutorial Services believes that competent, collegiate-level tutoring is important for the Wayland community to become more academically, professionally, and spiritually sound. Our mission is to offer peer (student-to-student) tutoring (with faculty oversight) across the Wayland curriculum in an inclusive environment and at no cost to students. Our services therefore are dedicated to helping students achieve academic and professional success in the classroom and beyond.
