Calculus Success is a multi-pronged initiative to support students who are underprepared or otherwise identified as at risk for not passing their required calculus courses. There are four programs in this initiative:
1. Dedicated sections of first-semester calculus for students who do not demonstrate calculus-readiness, supported by undergraduate TAs, with a focus on collaborative learning using the Treisman Model
2. A paired-course model in which students take their first semester calculus course paired with a Signature Course (first-year seminar) course on critical thinking
3. Fall Reset - a program that identifies students who are not performing well in their first-year calculus course and offers them the opportunity to switch to a specially developed pre-calculus section for the remainder of the semester
4. Calculus corequisites - modeled after developmental education corequisites, students who do not demonstrate calculus-readiness are required, and students with other risk factors are invited, to enroll in a 1-hour credit support course for the first half of the semester. The focus of the course is peer-to-peer learning, community building, study skills, and content work.

The purposes of Capitalizing on Scorpion Assets are the following:
1. Implement new customer relations management and early alert systems
2. To facilitate students' access to basic needs through campus services and community-based organizations, which will be centrally hosted, so students have direct access to wraparound supports
3. To facilitate more student and faculty engagement and interaction, a student area will be converted into a student-faculty engagement center so students can signal when they need assistance

These service are open to all students at Texas Southmost College.

At the heart of The Cardinal Advocacy and Resource Center is the conviction that education is a basic human right, essential to a thriving democracy. We recognize that to support our students through completion, students often need assistance outside of the classroom. Affording students the tools to reduce basic needs insecurity and learn to advocate for themselves is a priority at the CARC. Available to all students enrolled in at least 3 hours, the CARC is more than just a food and clothing pantry. Equitable access to basic needs includes assistance for, but not limited to, transportation, child-care, housing, food, technology, and emergency funding. Holistic support is also available to meet students where they area. We work to ensure students basic needs are met so they can focus on their academic success. Learning to be an advocate for themselves is another important function of the CARC. To that end, we provide students with an updated and comprehensive resource guide to allow students to easily locate and find services at the time they need it.

Cardinal Communities (CC) is a mentoring program that provides a supportive community in which students engage in meaningful relationships with fellow students, faculty, and staff that empower them to develop a sense of community and belonging and gain information to successfully transition to Lamar University. CC serves first time in college students who participate in one-hour weekly non credit-bearing interest or major-based sessions that are led by Peer and Professional Mentors, which are supplemented with individual peer mentoring sessions and social events throughout their first semester.

Career Academy is a dual credit workforce program in a high demand career that leads to a college level 1 certificate while in high school or the summer immediately following high school graduation. Austin Community College offers five Career Academies to help you land an in-demand job as soon as possible in the field of construction, education, manufacturing, health sciences, or IT. Career Academy classes are intended for workforce entry, not university transfer. However, some credits may be applied toward an associate degree. Tuition and fees are waived for participating in-district students. Out-of-district students qualify for significant discounts and pay just $150 per course. These discounts are good for up to 12 courses, after which regular tuition and fees are assessed for both groups. Classes are taught by ACC faculty on ACC campuses (or virtually, when necessary).

The NLC Career Fair supports post-completion goals by connecting students with employers. Students can practice networking in a professional setting and learn about part-time, full-time, and internship opportunities. Career READY supports students who are interested in pursuing an experience in a field that typically does not offer pay. Through the Federal Work Study Experiment, students can be awarded pay amounts based on their unmet need. Students work at off campus locations in internships that align with their academic pursuits and they get paid as campus student workers for the semester of their internship experience. Students engage in all the same training and requirements of being an on campus student employee, and they benefit from their off campus training and requirements at their internship site. Students apply for the program via Handshake Experiences where we connect with their site supervisors about their internship experience and provide student and site evaluations. While this program is open to all students who are federal work study eligible, we encourage all students to check with student financial aid about the opportunity to become eligible. We have had 47 students successfully complete the program since spring of 2021, with over $279,000 awarded! Students share that this opportunity allowed them to focus more on their courses and internship experience because they didn’t have to get an extra job to make ends meet. Additionally, a large number of participants have been Education majors, who traditionally work full-time at clinical teaching sites without pay. This program has made a huge difference and impact on them so they could successfully complete their degrees without the stress of limited to no income, or taking out additional student loans.

PRELIMINARY OUTCOMES DATA: In 2021, 23 employers participated in the program. After participating, over 90% of students and employers agreed that they would continue in part-time or full-time employment if given the chance.

The vision of the CRED program is to create a culture of life-long learning at UNT Dallas. The Career/Technical supply reimbursement program allows for grant funds to alleviate financial burdens on students in specific career and technical education programs. Hence, breaking down barriers for students. The program reimburses students up to $250 for out-of-pocket expenses. The expenses are program specific and are required by the program. Nursing (RN/LVN), Pharmacy Technician, Emergency Medical Services, and Surgical Technology program expenses may include badges, scrubs/uniforms/lab coats, watches, stethoscope, shoes, electronic device, and blood pressure cuff. Welding could include the student's welding hood and gloves. Barber and Cosmetology expenses could include the required student kit (manikin heads, clippers, shears, combs, brushes, hair dryers, curling irons, etc). Students have been very appreciative of the reimbursement program. Many, as we know, don't have extra funds for the additional costs that financial aid can't cover.

The Career and Technical Education Robo Recruiter was designed as an outreach mechanism to attract prospective students for CTE Programs, specifically prospective students in special populations and nontraditional gender fields. The goal is to enhance awareness of Associate of Applied Science Degree program offerings at the Blinn College District while providing labor market information regarding these career fields. The Robo Recruiter has an engaging interface which students can select the career option they want to explore. Labor market information regarding the career and training available at Blinn will be provided through the interface. The students will also have the option to provide contact information and connect with a Blinn advisor directly from the Robo Recruiter. The Robo Recruiter interface is held by a mannequin dressed in attire representing a CTE field.

ACC makes childcare scholarships available to low-income student parents. The core features of the childcare scholarship program are 1) case management and 2) parent choice. Students who accept a childcare scholarship must agree to participate in intensive case management with a Student Advocate to help with clarity of goals and decisionmaking, referrals to additional supports and on-going problem-solving and personal support. Students who receive the scholarship may select the childcare provider of their choice. ACC arranges for payment directly with the provider. Students must pay the difference between the amount of their scholarship and the total cost of care charged by the provider. The goals of the childcare scholarships are 1) to improve the semester to semester persistence rates of student parents and 2) to improve the graduation rates of student parents. Funding for the program come from ACC's Perkins grant and from institutional sources.

The CARE project expands the college's work in becoming a student-ready college through the creation of holistic student support redesign by focusing on key priority areas: a redesign of Student Enrollment Services, the reimagining of the student orientation experience, small-scale pilots of holistic student support including embedded tutors and peer mentors, and professional development for staff and faculty to support these efforts. The targeted population will be adult learners, specifically students of color.

DELIVERY FORMAT: The program has a hybrid format or has both online and in-person components.

Circle of Care is an intervention program designed as a community initiative to support the success of all students through a collaborative effort of connecting people and departments across campus that are directly connected to students. Circle of Care serves all students on campus each year as a best practice to provide students with the support they need when they need it. The program is structured in an intentional way that provides support through a student's academic and student life experience. The Circle of care utilizes a platform on campus, Schreiner Insight, to connect people in a way that allows for immediate communication allowing for appropriate intervention to occur specific to the needed support within the experience area of student. This program allows for effective collaboration across campus, from faculty, advisors, department heads, and coaches to upper-level administrators of campus to support student success.
