In Southwest Texas Junior College's 15/30/40+ Credit Hours Interventions, Success Coaches meet with students whom are seeking an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science when they meet key credit milestones. Success Coaches meet with each student to monitor student progress and plan future courses to keep students on track using student planning at each marker of 15/30/40+. Transfer pathways are also part of student planning. 15/30/40+ are markers for retention and completion. Once a student reaches the 40+ credit mark, the college's transfer team contacts each student to discuss graduation and transfer

The Academic Center for Excellence provides assistance to students who need or desire additional academic support with their courses.

The tutors working in ACE are ETBU students who excel academically in their studies. They are committed to assisting any student by empowering them with the skills needed to become a successful student.

The ACE Lab offers one-on-one and group tutoring sessions free of charge to all students enrolled at East Texas Baptist University. Our tutoring focuses on general education and gateway courses, and we offer help in all of our courses fitting that description.

ETBU's ACE Lab is a Level I CRLA certified program that trains tutors in accordance with best practices in the field.

Academic coaches at ETBU work with students to help hold them accountable for all things academics. Our coaches help students develop study skills, good study habits, and continually assess the current academic status of our students. Coaches also help advise students with course scheduling, changing majors, and overall academic development. Academic coaching typically takes place once a week, with students working with the same academic coach throughout the semester (and, oftentimes, over the course of several semesters). Academic coaches discuss a student's current grades, attendance, and missing assignments during each session, and help students in setting up contact with instructors/professors when needed.

Academic Coaching for Conditionally Admitted Students is a program developed for incoming students who do not meet admission criteria. We offer individual meetings with trained professional and peer academic coaches to support students in developing and implementing new approaches and strategies to avoid academic probation or suspension and continue enrollment beyond their first year. The Academic Support Referral (ASR) acts as an early alert system which is designed to increase students' persistence and promote the development of the intellectual and affective domains to improve how students learn. The University of Houston, Clear Lake is committed to make certain that students, faculty and staff are aware of the educational and academic support programs offered to students and has implemented a retention program through the Academic Support Referral. This program is managed by the Student Success Center (SSC). I feel everyone at the university has a vested interest in student success.
The Academic Support Referral exemplifies how the University of Houston, Clear Lake is an academic community, in every sense of the word. We come together to support those who are in need of assistance and to support student learning.

The Academic Support Referral program allows faculty to be proactive and involved in assisting with the student retention efforts, through the early detection and intervention of students who are experiencing problems that may affect their academic performance.

Academic Support Referrals are for student(s) for which faculty has a concern(s) and/or do not feel that you as faculty can provide the additional out-of-class support the student may need. The Student Success Center will contact the student, share the faculty member's concern(s), and the SSC will provide recommendations. Students will receive an alert email once faculty submits an ASR due to the following concerns:
• Excessive absences
• Missing tests or assignments
• Failure to complete homework
• Classroom behavior
• Tardiness
• Low scores on tests/assignments/quizzes

After the request is sent, the Assistant Director of the Student Success Center will contact the student within 72business hours (the SSC will make multiple attempts to contact the student). In addition, the Student Success Center will notify you, the instructor, as well as the student on the plans we deem necessary to assist the student personally and/or academically.

The Advising Students for Success project fall in line with the intent of the Accelerate Student Success Planning Grant. Through the Accelerate Student Success Planning Grant, our project will begin to improve our efforts of advising support to our students.

- Improve an advising model and move it to a student success model that is receptive to students (e.g. transfer students, specialized student populations (i.e. athletes, online/distance learners, etc.) and disciplines.

The goal of "Advisors on the Loose" is to provide registration and advising information to students, with an objective of registering 80% of currently enrolled students for the subsequent term before the end of the current term. Once registration opens for the subsequent term, advisors begin "Advisors on the Loose." Advisors are provided an iPad. A registration lab is open while "Advisors on the Loose" is being conducted. Advisors, in pairs, go throughout the campus talking with students to inform them registration is open. Advisors are able to check student records by utilizing the iPad. They hand out a snack with registration lab information so students can go to the lab to register. Advisors are also able to connect with students by providing them quick advising information and providing them direction on how to connect with their assigned advisor.

One example of an event related to Alamo Institutes/Experiential Learning is the Dining Etiquette Luncheon. The Northeast Lakeview College, Career Engaged Learning Office supports career development and experiential learning by hosting the Dining Etiquette Luncheon.

Students are guided through a three-course meal with a formal place setting, while offered instruction on proper greetings, networking, contemporary etiquette, and the mechanics of formal dining.

This guided experience provides an opportunity for students to learn common protocols of dining etiquette, to enhance their professional image, helping to equip students with the social capital to navigate situations, in which knowledge of formal dining is essential, particularly during professional meetings and conferences.

The Career Engaged Learning Office works with faculty in the business and speech departments, in addition to the Office of Student Life, to promote this event to targeted groups of students. The targeted population for this event are students with pre-majors in the Business & Entrepreneurship Institute, students enrolled in the course, Business & Professional Communication, and members of the Male Excellence Network.

The learning outcome of the event is intended for students to report an increased confidence in professional networking and increased confidence in navigating a formal meal. Related to experiential learning, a reflective component allows students to elaborate on how they could apply the acquired knowledge in future career settings.

Applied Learning Experiences (ALEs) are academic, and non-academic, transformative learning experiences designed to engage students in active and reflective learning to further develop beyond-disciplinary skills and expand students’ perspectives of self, community, and global environments.

With the guidance and mentoring of faculty and staff, students will think critically and articulate the broader impact of these activities, and learn to articulate the value of their experiences. The result will be a distinctive collegiate experience that prepares the student for life beyond college. The Applied Learning Experiences (ALE) categories are: Service Learning, Scholarly Activity, Internship/Practicum, Leadership, Discipline Knowledge, Cultural Enrichment

By successfully completing at least three of these approved activities across at least two categories, students will earn an ALE cord to wear at graduation.

North Central Texas College’s (NCTC) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Aspire to be Hired, focuses on students’ employability skill development through evidence-based training modules embedded into the course curriculum and structured support opportunities. The program promotes students’ marketability and preparedness by 1) building their awareness of the importance and impact of employability skills, 2) improving their ability to articulate these skill sets, and 3) offering opportunities to apply professional skills and knowledge. The overarching goal of NCTC’s QEP Aspire to be Hired is to remove barriers and reduce the skills gap to improve students’ long-term employability. Students who enroll in QEP identified CTE courses are automatically participants in the program. Students complete a specific QEP Professional Skills assignment as a part of the course content, and Career Coaches in the Career Service Center provide structured student services. The QEP was launched in three career and technical divisions for pilot in 2020 and 2021- Information Technology, Business Management, and HVAC.

The Athletic Cohort Advising Model was developed to increase success, retention, and graduation rates among athletes. Each athletic group is assigned an academic advisor who will work with them from admissions to graduation. The academic advisor works closely with admissions, financial aid, student life, scholarship office, athletic coaching staff, and faculty. The advising model includes grade/attendance checks, advising check-ins, completion of a career inventory, declared pathway, and transfer information. The objectives include students will declare a pathway major during the first semester of attendance, students will earn 24-30 hours of credit during first year, students will be informed on career pathway regarding education, salary, and job expectancy, and students will earn a degree within 5 semesters.

Best Achievement Strategies for College (BASC) is a system-wide, university orientation course created to encourage traditional and non-traditional students to persist to degree completion. The class focuses on three elements: the development of a growth mindset, the early identification of a major and career, and the hands-on involvement in service learning. BASC is offered face-to-face on the residential campus, each external campus and online, each with a slightly different student population. The course is designed to assist and empower first-year learners with strategies and information to support the successful launch of their college career. Faculty from each academic school on the Plainview campus offer discipline-specific sections of the course, allowing students to make connections with faculty in their primary area of study while receiving information and success strategies specific to that major and profession. Throughout the semester, students learn about growth mindset, and receive information about student services, the writing center, the library, tutoring, and health and wellness, as well as strategies such as time and financial management, study skills, note taking, and learning styles. Students explore their interests, skills, and career goals upon choosing a major and are assisted one-on-one with registering for classes for their second semester. Members of the BASC course also participate in a service-learning project that ties discipline-specific activities to community service. The Best Academic Strategies for College (BASC) course is designed to make the transition to college a little less stressful by making information, strategies, and services readily available.

Experiential learning is a key component of the St. Edward's University undergraduate education. This type of learning engages students outside of the classroom to broaden and deepen their awareness of societal problems and participate in community-based activities that address these issues. There are two types of experiential learning: Introductory Experiential Learning, which exposes students to foundational experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom and Advanced Experiential Learning (AEL) which provides more robust and meaningful experiential learning opportunities with additional engagement required of the student in both time and effort.

As articulated in Strategic Plan 2027, 100% of undergraduate students will complete at least one AEL opportunity before graduation. To support this goal over five years, constructing definitions of experiential learning areas and establishing clear criteria for advanced experiential learning across the university is key to overall success. As a result, St. Edward's has developed five definitions for AEL: Internships and Field Experience, Research and Creative Works with Faculty, Immersive Domestic and International Travel Experiences, Service-Learning, Volunteering, and Student Employment/Leadership on and off campus.

To achieve rigor through time and effort, an AEL opportunity must meet all of the following criteria, 1) Quantitative - 60 clock hours within a semester 2) Intentional - The experience should be purposeful, planned in advance with explicit goals and intended outcomes, 3) Beneficial - Support students' interests, career readiness, and aspirations, and 4) Supervised - The experience should be supervised, including ongoing faculty, staff, supervisor and/or community involvement in all phases.

The Blue & Gold Scholar program recognizes St. Edward's University undergraduate student participation in advanced experiential learning opportunities. There are three types of scholars, 1) Blue Scholars complete one AEL opportunity, 2) Gold Scholars complete two advanced experiential learning opportunities, and 3) Blue and Gold Scholars complete 3 or more AEL opportunities.

The CARE Program was designed to assist with academic difficulties by enhancing the learning experience of its students. CARE creates an academic support network focused on the individual needs of each student and provides strategic resources for students to make well-educated choices for the remainder of their educational career. The process involves identifying students who will be on probation, or who are currently on probation, with whom we can help get back on track via self-assessments, Success Agreements, meetings with the Retention Coordinator, and various prescribed agreements, such as professional tutoring, mentoring, and academic coaching.

The Connect Mentorship Program (known by students as Connect) is a year-long mentorship program aimed at retaining students of color at SMU. The program has two parts: the Connect Institute and Peer Mentorship. Connect helps incoming students of color become effective, successful, and engaged members of SMU through peer mentoring. Mentors help incoming students develop personally and academically by introducing them to various resources, learning opportunities, and co-curricular experiences offered on campus.

Calculus Success is a multi-pronged initiative to support students who are underprepared or otherwise identified as at risk for not passing their required calculus courses. There are four programs in this initiative:
1. Dedicated sections of first-semester calculus for students who do not demonstrate calculus-readiness, supported by undergraduate TAs, with a focus on collaborative learning using the Treisman Model
2. A paired-course model in which students take their first semester calculus course paired with a Signature Course (first-year seminar) course on critical thinking
3. Fall Reset - a program that identifies students who are not performing well in their first-year calculus course and offers them the opportunity to switch to a specially developed pre-calculus section for the remainder of the semester
4. Calculus corequisites - modeled after developmental education corequisites, students who do not demonstrate calculus-readiness are required, and students with other risk factors are invited, to enroll in a 1-hour credit support course for the first half of the semester. The focus of the course is peer-to-peer learning, community building, study skills, and content work.
