The Priddy Foundation Scholars Program provides scholarships for first generation students, in addition to supporting students throughout their four years of education at Midwestern State University. Opportunities for "The Priddy Scholars" include student success workshops, career planning assistance and study abroad. Program activities include the following:

The primary purpose of academic advising is to engage students in the continuous and collaborative process of creating student-centered educational plans that are compatible with the students’ career and life goals. Reading the Globe is a program offered to our freshman class each year. Our students read a book set in a foreign country, discuss how the book’s author or narrator displays self-determination skills (self-awareness; self-regulation; self-advocacy;and self-empowerment); growth mindset; purpose and a sense of belonging. Students then engage in class discussion about these skills, how the author used them, and how they (the students) can learn and employ the skills to complete their education in a timely manner. At the end
of the semester, students may choose to enter a video and/or essay contest to show what they have learned about self-determination and how they would apply those skills when traveling to a foreign country. From the videos/essays, a pool of students is selected for an interview. From this group, 15 students are chosen for an all-expense paid trip to a foreign country-typically the country in which the book is set. During the trip, students are expected to identify and use self-determination skills and growth mindset, as well as develop a sense of purpose and belonging. Upon their return, students serve as a Reading the Globe Ambassadors for a period of one year. During this time, they are expected to mentor students in the incoming freshman class. They also choose a non-profit related to issues raised in the book they read; they engage in fund-raising activities and community service with their chosen non-profit as a way to practice their advocacy skills.

The Rotunda Scholars Program is a one-year scholars program that aims to help a cohort of first year students achieve early success at SMU by promoting academic achievement, personal excellence, and leadership. The program strives to help students transition to college and the SMU campus at large with holistic academic counseling, upperclassmen Peer Counselors, study hall, and exclusive events and programming. In addition to exclusive study spaces and programming, benefits include reserved seats in high demand courses as well as supplemental office hours with key faculty. Rotunda primarily serves students who are historically underserved and underrepresented at SMU. Our diverse and academically inclined cohort is comprised of first-generation college students, Pell eligible, minorities, those from rural backgrounds or other underrepresented individuals that would benefit from the enriching one-year program. Every student comes to college with different academic and lived experiences. Rotunda aims to help students have an equitable and empowering first year and beyond. The resources and support do not end after the first year. After they complete the one year program, they remain a part of our Rotunda community in which they can turn to for academic support, financial resources, job opportunities, and general guidance in hopes of aiding their ultimate goal, graduation.The core value of the Rotunda Scholars Program is to provide and promote an inclusive and equitable experience, through holistic support, and to be a home for our students. The core purpose of our program is to make an impact. We encourage our students to explore all opportunities, we empower them to challenge themselves and become their own educational advocates, and hope they will evolve into the trailblazers and world changers we know they are capable of becoming.

The STARS Plan program was designed to support students who are struggling academically. Our target population of students are those who are between the GPA of 2.00-2.49. At any given time, these students could fall below a 2.00 GPA, leading to suspension both academically and of financial aid. Dropping below this threshold could also present a challenge for students who are planning to transfer and/or those seeking programs that require above a 2.5 GPA to be admitted. The STARS Plan serves as a supportive system to ensure retention and persistence. Tutoring, resources, academic planning and staff support are all part of the process. Currently, student are not automatically enrolled in this program, but are are invited by their advisors to create a plan once they surpass the aforementioned threshold.

PRELIMINARY OUTCOMES DATA: A combined total of 350 students were contacted Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. Of these students, 22 students agreed to participate in our STARS Plan Initiative. Results show 59% (13 out of 22 students) achieved a GPA above a 2.49 and 68% (15 out of 22 students) increased their GPA.

SWAG (Students with a Goal) Program Mission Statement- Is to promote lifelong student success by providing innovative resources to ASU students. We are committed to helping students picture, plan, prepare, and pursue their academic goals to become successful students and professionals. The program will help students explore different learning processes by helping them access their own study routines, model new strategies and put new skills into practice. The student sets goals for the semester, predict what grades they would like to make in the class, and create a strategy on getting the grade they predict. The program's target population includes Freshman, First Generation students, academic probation students, and athletes.

Start With Support (SWS) aims to connect residential students to their academic goals while also fostering a sense of closeness with their residence hall staff. SWS, at its core, involves establishing continuous relationships with students to create academic readiness within the first two-years of their college experience to improve persistence and retention across the board. By following TCU Housing's relationship model, "Knowing, Connecting and Empowering" (KCE), SWS allows students to engage and identify resources and methods to improve their academic goals and college experience.

For TVCC, Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) has a single overarching goal: To provide the optimal number of students for every part of the college, based on the college mission and capacities. To do that, SEM initiatives influence students in three areas: 1) Recruitment, 2) Retention, and 3) Student Satisfaction.

Responsible for implementing process within those three areas is the SEM Committee. This is a large, campus-wide committee with a very wide reach. Each member of the SEM committee also oversee a subcommittee that has a particular purpose within the overall SEM structure. For example, our subcommittees include: Retention, Diversity and Inclusion, Recruitment, Campus Beautification, Safety and Security, Workforce, etc. These committees were chosen after an extensive SWOT analysis.

SEM touches every area of campus, touching every service and activity from the time a student makes an inquiry through a student's graduation into alumni status.

At TVCC we began with a SWOT analysis of our current position within the market and determined four focus areas for our first year of the SEM project. (We also incorporated project management training for all SEM members.) The four focus areas for our first year were: 1) Building necessary infrastructure in all areas, 2) Ensure safety guidelines are met on all campuses, 3) Grow retention and recruitment, and 4) Detangle confusing student processes.

We have been working on these four focus areas for the last year. We have been successful in all four areas. We are now shift into our second year of SEM, where collection and use of data will become paramount.

Our ultimate goal through SEM is to have our optimal number of students on all campuses and in all activities, including academics.

The purpose of New Student Orientation is to welcome, inspire, and connect incoming first time college students to our community. We aim to help students establish meaningful connections with peers, staff, and faculty members dedicated to supporting their academic journey; discover strategies and numerous student support services for enhancing success; and engage with campus traditions and the campus. We utilize an online module portion through Comevo that can be completed at the students' own pace. The module is a brief overview of campus, student stories, important offices/resources, and important policies. The in-person portion is called Highlander Day and connects students with each other, Peer Mentors that will be assigned to their Learning Frameworks class, campus resources, and faculty from each academic pathway. The goal is to create a social connection that allows students to ask for help more easily.

The Student Success Mentoring program is designed to support all students in making a successful and enjoyable transition to the TAMUK campus by creating educational and supportive relationships designed to direct students to be successful. The Mentors support students by sharing skills and positive habits, guiding students to resources and opportunities on campus, and promoting positive decision making. Javelinas have the opportunity to meet with a mentor in one-to-one and small group sessions. Student Success Mentors strive to promote academic excellence and student success at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and guide students on their journey from first-year Javelinas to Javelinas for Life. The Student Support Services (SSS) program is designed to assist undergraduate students who are first generation, low-income, or who have disabilities. The goal is to facilitate good academic standing, retention, and graduation of undergraduate students at Midwestern State University. SSS participants receive academic tutoring; advice and assistance in postsecondary course selection; information on Federal student financial aid (FAFSA) programs, including resources for locating public and private scholarships; assistance in completing financial aid applications; workshops designed to improve financial and economic literacy, including financial planning for postsecondary education; engagement in a peer mentoring program; and activities designed to assist participants in applying for admission to and obtaining financial assistance for enrollment in graduate or professional programs. Student Support Services is a part of a nationwide network of TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program is open to accepted and enrolled Midwestern State University undergraduates who meet the eligibility criteria. The Director of Student Support Services reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Prairie View A&M University offers a high-impact summer experience opportunity to incoming freshmen through of one its 11 meta-major and co-curricular summer bridge programs. The programs are designed to provide students with a transformative beginning college experience through innovative learning support networks that enhances their intellectual, civic, and social engagements. Students can earn up to 12 semester credit hours towards their degree at no charge for tuition, fees, room, and board.

PRELIMINARY OUTCOMES DATA: Students in the 2020 summer bridge cohort had an average first-year retention rate of 86%, compared to the university average of 75%. Additionally, the six year graduation rate of summer bridge participants is 58%, approximately 17 percentage points higher than the university average.

The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) Intervention Specialists Unit aims to equip at-risk COAS students with the necessary tools to succeed in higher education. The COAS Intervention Specialist Unit is dedicated to helping students navigate their higher education career by providing individualized proactive advising (ongoing support through timely and direct communication and in-depth discussions of academic progress, performance, and degree planning), holistic support (identifying external factors impacting academic success of students and connecting students with campus and community resources), and academic intervention (providing opportunities for academic, personal, and career development).
