In an effort to ultimately impact academic success, it proposes to address issues and challenges related to the “whole student.” The plan proposes activities that directly engage students as soon as they express an interest in the university. In Southwest Texas Junior College's 15/30/40+ Credit Hours Interventions, Success Coaches meet with students whom are seeking an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science when they meet key credit milestones. Success Coaches meet with each student to monitor student progress and plan future courses to keep students on track using student planning at each marker of 15/30/40+. Transfer pathways are also part of student planning. 15/30/40+ are markers for retention and completion. Austin Community College’s new, all-inclusive scholarship program supports students focused on starting a career immediately after ACC. Career Scholars receive financial and academic support while working toward a certificate or associate degree in an approved area of study. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees — for a total of $5,000 disbursed over a period of up to 3 years — and ensures recipients have the guidance and support they need to reach their goals. Career Scholars builds holistic support services around the students, with rich career service resources and academic support in an effort to 1) alleviate financial barriers that often prevent underserved student populations from attaining a higher ed credential; 2) support students academically while enhancing their career skills, and 3) give students exposure to potential internships with industry partners in their area of study. The unique Career Scholars program serves two categories of students: graduating high school seniors and current ACC adult learners. Participants in the High School Career Scholars program work toward a certificate or associate degree in a field that was identified by the Texas Workforce Commission as having high demand and earning potential. These fields are: Arts, Digital Media & Communications; Business; Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering; Education; Health Care; Manufacturing/Skilled Trades; Public & Social Services. The ACE Center reimagined the College Experience Coach (CEC) who will be responsible for helping students shape their professional college experience from orientation to graduation and beyond. The highlights of this new position will be to coach first-time college students during their first year, bridging their values and interests to program relevance and professional goals. This position will be cross trained as an academic advisor to improve the connection between career and academic planning. The CEC will also take on a caseload of graduating final semester seniors and provide coordinated programming to prepare them for personal and professional success beyond graduation.

Academic coaches at ETBU work with students to help hold them accountable for all things academics. Our coaches help students develop study skills, good study habits, and continually assess the current academic status of our students. Coaches also help advise students with course scheduling, changing majors, and overall academic development. Academic coaching typically takes place once a week, with students working with the same academic coach throughout the semester (and, oftentimes, over the course of several semesters). Academic coaches discuss a student's current grades, attendance, and missing assignments during each session, and help students in setting up contact with instructors/professors when needed.

Students on academic probation or academic suspension are provided zero-hour, course-based support for academic recovery. Course curriculum and activities align with activities that lead to academic success in the students' other courses. Students meet with an academic recovery coach, receive coordinated care from other offices such as counseling services, engage with tutors for coursework, and more. All support is available both in-person and virtually. UNIV 2001, for students on academic probation, and UNIV 3001, for students on academic suspension, are designed for students to regain good academic standing, thereby increasing credit accumulation, increasing GPA, and decreasing time to completion.

The Academic Success Center's embedded tutoring program provides equitable access to academic support by aligning support between the instructor, the tutor, and the course content. Embedded tutors provide support to students enrolled in gateway courses such as MATH 1314 College Algebra, CHEM 1411 General Chemistry I, MATH 1420 Calculus, and more. The Academic Success Center identifies potential equity gaps in end-of-course outcomes and provides scaffolded and aligned academic support using in- and out-of-class tutoring. Tutors provide in-class support during classroom practice and activities, particularly in active learning classrooms. Tutors provide out-of-class support in study groups, one-on-one tutoring sessions, and review sessions. Tutoring services are located in a centralized tutoring and mentoring center inside the campus library to provide access to connect students to different support services. All tutoring is also available online.

The Academic Support Referral (ASR) acts as an early alert system which is designed to increase students' persistence and promote the development of the intellectual and affective domains to improve how students learn. The University of Houston, Clear Lake is committed to make certain that students, faculty and staff are aware of the educational and academic support programs offered to students and has implemented a retention program through the Academic Support Referral. This program is managed by the Student Success Center (SSC). I feel everyone at the university has a vested interest in student success. The Academic Support Referral exemplifies how the University of Houston, Clear Lake is an academic community, in every sense of the word. We come together to support those who are in need of assistance and to support student learning.
The Academic Support Referral program allows faculty to be proactive and involved in assisting with the student retention efforts, through the early detection and intervention of students who are experiencing problems that may affect their academic performance.
Academic Support Referrals are for student(s) for which faculty has a concern(s) and/or do not feel that you as faculty can provide the additional out-of-class support the student may need. The Student Success Center will contact the student, share the faculty member's concern(s), and the SSC will provide recommendations. Students will receive an alert email once faculty submits an ASR due to the following concerns: • Excessive absences • Missing tests or assignments • Failure to complete homework • Classroom behavior • Tardiness • Low scores on tests/assignments/quizzes
After the request is sent, the Assistant Director of the Student Success Center will contact the student within 72business hours (the SSC will make multiple attempts to contact the student). In addition, the Student Success Center will notify you, the instructor, as well as the student on the plans we deem necessary to assist the student personally and/or academically.

While forging ahead with course platform innovations, the former one-hour course of College Assembly known as Chapel has been redesigned a weekly informative session of an Academic Symposium. This allows students to benefit from the experience of weekly interactions with professors and professionals. Interaction is an essential part of academic life. The symposium allows students to have exposure to division major presentations, and student demonstrations for creative intellectual purposes. The weekly symposiums that were initiated during the first week of the semester have proven to be beneficial. During the weekly interactions, students are given the opportunity to increase networking skills, meet with professors in their majors, improve communication and presentation abilities; plus glean the latest information that can have a positive impact on the Texas College academic community. Each major within the four divisions has committed to design programs for each week such as a major fair, internship orientations, graduate school opportunities, resume writing, financial literacy, soft-skill training, and various other motivational programs. Each session begins with an invocation, weekly announcements, reminders, and a weekly program. The Academic Symposium programming is designed to include the aspiration to respond to expectations of business and industry for core workplace skills mathematics, quantitative, analytical reasoning, written plus oral communication, and critical thinking/problem-solving. Having agreed on the three broad areas to be addressed, each division determined the learning outcomes. Thus, there has been an overwhelming response of attendance by students and faculty participation

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: The Academic Symposium is an influential learning tool for Texas College students. Students can become bored with the day-to-day humdrum of classes, and home.
