Transition to Success Coach model and Student Success Questionnaire (SSQ): With our transition to career and academic pathways and Success Coaches, our institution is able to better service our students by assigning Success Coaches who are trained in a specific career and academic pathway. With our SSQ, it allows our Success Coaches and our institution to recognize the needs students express individually to better serve them by sharing about resources available to them both on campus and in our community. The SSQ has generated an in-house referral process to better service our students. Both were established to increase student success in retention, completion and graduation and targets our entire student population.

A few morning options are also made available throughout the year to maximize participation. During these sessions, UTPB strives to assist students and their parents with completion of the application, discuss possible financial aid and scholarship opportunities for higher education, and counsel students on their financial and admissions needs for college. These sessions are hosted by UTPB’s Admissions and Financial Aid Offices and are come and go, so participants can get the help they need throughout the two-hour time block.

Utilizing a Curricular Approach to Develop a Holistic, Intentional and Effective Curriculum
Rating

The Division of Student Affairs is utilizing Implementation Grant to employ a redesign of how learning and engagement opportunities for
students are achieved. The redesign is modeled on the Curricular Approach to Student Affairs work. A curricular approach is an increasingly popular method of organizing out-of-classroom learning and engagement experiences for college students. The approach entails the development of learning objectives and then sequencing and scaffolding designed learning experiences to achieve these objectives. Through this focus on student learning and throughout the design process, formative and summative assessment measures are more easily identified, designed, and analyzed to allow for overall
curriculum review, improvement, and advancement. With the assistance of the ASSI Planning Grant, the planning work has already begun and we are excited to develop and launch the curriculum at West Texas A&M
