Tarrant County College District has developed a summer bridge program for T3 Scholars to fulfill a requirement of the Tarrant To & Through (T3) Partnership. The goal of the summer bridge program is to empower scholars with the tools and skills needed to succeed as first-year students with the aim of reducing summer melt. Core features of the Summer Bridge Program include an Academic Pathways presentation, new student orientation, new student group advising, enrollment support, and interactive games and icebreakers. Peer leaders are hired to deliver a College 101 presentation, which highlights transitional skills, strategies, and resources. Peer leaders also facilitate games and icebreakers and serve on a student panel. Students also complete the College Student Inventory before the program; during the program, Coordinators of Special Services help students to interpret their scores and identify tailored resources based on these scores. The target audience are Graduating seniors from local high schools who have completed T3 Pledge agreements and are admitted to Tarrant County College.

The Service-Learning Faculty Fellowship program provides an intentional professional development opportunity for faculty members interested in service-learning. The practical and theoretical underpinnings of service-learning are emphasized through three workshops during the fall. Faculty members then apply these principles by teaching a service-learning course of their design in the spring semester. Three spring discussions provide structured support for troubleshooting challenges and ensuring quality. The TECHniques Center is the only program of its kind in Texas and one of only five in the entire nation. A fee-based program, we provide supplemental academic support services through one-on-one, regularly scheduled tutoring and academic counseling for students diagnosed with a specific learning disability, ADD/ADHD, and/or autism spectrum disorders. We individually match students and tutors to provide excellent academic support and accountability. In addition, tutors receive extensive training that leads to their tutor certification through the College Reading and Learning Association. The goal of the program is to help students build independent learning and self-advocacy skills so they can meet their educational goals. To achieve this success, the majority of our students will meet with their tutor five hours per week. This is typically scheduled as one hour per day during operating hours. Students will also meet with their Academic Counselor once per week for 30 minutes. This level of contact helps with content acquisition, accountability, planning, prioritizing, and time management.

Student Success Services (SSS) is a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program’s mission is to help eligible students succeed at Weatherford College (WC), graduate and/or transfer to a university to complete a degree. SSS participants are provided personal academic advising, individual development plans, tutoring and supplemental instruction, financial aid assistance, personal counseling, career advising, transfer assistance through campus tours and cooperative advising with transfer admissions offices, and cultural enrichment. For over two decades, the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Frank Phillips College (FPC) has promoted student success by helping students to overcome the barriers that might otherwise prevent them from achieving their goals. This federally-funded Title IV program serves 165 students annually who are first generation, low-income (as defined by federal income standards), and/or are students with a documented disability or impairment. The primary goal of the TRiO SSS program is to give our students every possible tool to express their full potential here at FPC and beyond. The teaching effectiveness and emotional intelligence professional development program develops effective, quality outcomes-based distance education training that will maximize student learning. In support of ETB's mission to holistically develop students, we have initiated a mentoring program called Thrive to cultivate student success through intentional, one-on-one, and small-group mentoring. Thrive prepares students to flourish intellectually, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially. New, on-campus, undergraduate students have the opportunity to be paired with a peer mentor (upperclassman) during their first semester at the University. In addition, upperclassmen may join a small group with an assigned faculty/staff mentor for each academic year.

Title V grants are awarded to Hispanic Serving Institutions. This project was designed to help Hispanic students in STEM majors. Some of the key components of the project include incorporating principles of Project Based Learning into Western Texas College’s curriculum; expanding research opportunities and articulation agreements for students; and utilizing peer tutoring to help STEM students better understand the content of their courses and the problem-solving process.

PRELIMINARY OUTCOMES DATA: Initial data shows very promising results of the impact of the Title V project. In Gibson Research Group surveys of Project-Based Learning (PBL), the average response to the survey questions was 2.80 in Fall 2018 but had increased to 3.05 in Fall 2021 (responses are recorded on a 1 to 4 scale with 4 being the highest response), indicating that PBL is being implemented in the college curriculum. Other strategies such as tutoring also seem to be increasing academic achievement for STEM students. In Fall 2018, the average grade point average (GPA) for science students was 2.49, compared to 2.83 in Fall 2021, an increase of almost 14%. In math, the average GPA increased from 1.99 to 2.55 (or 28%) over the same time period.

Success Coaching strives to assist our diverse student population in reaching their individual academic goals by providing resources and ensuring equality for all students to achieve their goals and fulfill their potential.

The three interrelated goals of the Success Coaching Program are (1) to help students to develop a clear vision of their own goals, (2) to assist students in developing skills related to academic success, such as study skills, time management, and self-efficacy, and (3) to connect them to other college resources and support personnel as needed.

As a result of participating in the Success Coaching Program, students will have increased self-regulation skills, executive functioning skills, efficacy, and be more self-directed leaners.

Success coaching is available to all Victoria College students, but we target our first time in college (FTIC) students, students on academic warning, academic probation, or academic suspension, student athletes, and students on financial aid appeals.

The data that is provided in this survey only represents our FTIC students participating in Success Coaching. Success Coaching began in 2018, but including all FTIC students began Fall 2021.

Organizational Overview
UNT Dallas's mission is to transform the lives of our students by empowering them with the resources they need for success. UNT Dallas has a unique focus on serving under-resourced students in metro Dallas, becoming a pathway to the middle class for thousands of area students. Our core competence is preparing local students for high-need jobs in North Texas.

Program Overview
The Trailblazer Elite program (TBE) promotes student retention and ensures students successfully graduate from college. The program is designed to increase student retention, graduation rates in a timely manner, and career attainment. Traditionally, the TBE program has focused on first-generation college students. We teach students how to develop a support network that will help them navigate through their college journey and life.

Program Goals & Objectives
The TBE program is designed to build supportive and trusting relationships, provide academic support, and prepare students for a successful college transition for non-traditional students. In order to be successful, students must have a sufficient amount of interaction with faculty and staff on campus.

DELIVERY FORMAT: The program has a hybrid format or has both online and in-person components.

PROGRAM SCALE: Medium-scale (reaches between 10 and 25 percent of its target population)

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: Trailblazer Elite students benefit from leadership development, academic enrichment, mentorship, networking, and priority access to student support services. Programmatic touch-points, metrics, and early alerts increase student success, retention, graduation rates, and career attainment.
Of those selected to participate in the first cohort, 95% were retained from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021. 86% were retained from Fall 2021 to Fall 2022.
Compared to similar students outside the program, the Trailblazer Elite students: (1) had higher retention rates; (2) 84% are in good standing with the university; and (3) are 80% more engaged with the university.

The Transfer Mentor Program

The mission of the Transfer Mentor Program is to cultivate an environment of student leadership through mentoring that assists transfer students with the transition to college life and fosters a strong sense of belonging through academic engagement, social involvement and community service.

College presents many challenges, both academically and socially. The Transfer Mentor Program was created to connect incoming transfer students with current UT Dallas students who also transferred to the University. Transfer students who choose to join the Transfer Mentor Program are paired with a student mentor to help ease the transition to UT Dallas, specifically during their first two semesters at the University. Peer mentors at UT Dallas work to mentor new students in the following three areas: leadership development, academic support, and social engagement. In addition to providing personalized support for each mentee, the Transfer Mentor Program hosts service, academic, and social events throughout the year for participants to engage on-campus and with the program more deeply.

PROGRAM SCALE: Small-scale (reaches fewer than 10 percent of its target population)

PROGRAM OUTCOMES: The development or redesign of postsecondary workforce credential programs in a growing occupational field that is industry-aligned and developed with the participation of postsecondary lower-division institutions and workforce actors such as workforce and economic development boards or associations, industry representatives or employer. The grant was able to assist the college by funding credit certificates in PCT technician and IT Health Informatics to effectively start fall 2024.
