Open Educational Resources (OER) “Resource for the Resource Retreat” Call for Participants
by Liz Tolman 2 years, 3 months agoThe Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) welcomes applications for participation in the Open Educational Resources (OER) “Resource for the Resource Retreat”. The Division of Digital Learning is offering the training this fall, in partnership with the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), in response to positive feedback from the Texas OER community.
The Resource for the Resource Retreat will build on previous OER trainings and field experience to support cohorts of three to five members in developing a plan for supporting and moving OER forward at their institution. We encourage cross divisional representation on institutional teams to broaden the support network at institutions. Librarians, instructional designers, faculty and department heads, administrators, and faculty development leads are encouraged. OER developed during the training will be shared and showcased in the OERTX repository.
The retreat will include two sessions:
- September 8, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. CST OER Engagement, Awareness, Capacity Building and Recognition – Cohorts will be introduced to strategies for supporting OER at the institutional level. Participants will begin developing their OER projects.
- September 15, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. CST Community Building: Student Engagement and Success – Cohorts will share their initial OER projects and explore the positive outcomes of OER, focusing on student success.
Participants are required to attend the two 120-minute webinars and complete approximately seven hours of practice activities to find, curate, create, publish, and share their OER project. The training will be capped at 14 institutional cohorts.
Applicants will be selected for participation based on their commitment to attending all sessions, evidence of some OER experience, and an OER project proposal developed as a cohort. Participants will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion upon fulfillment of all requirements.
To register and view additional information visit the Resource for the Resource Application.
Applications will close at 11:59 p.m. (CST) on August 29. Participants will be selected to participate based on a review of the application and contacted via email by August 31. For questions, please contact Liz Tolman, Ph.D., Program Director at Elizabeth.Tolman@highered.texas.gov.
