Open Educational Resources (OER) Creator Communities Academy Call for Participants
by Liz Tolman 2 years, 6 months ago
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) welcomes applications for participation in the Open Educational Resources (OER) Creator Communities Academy. We are offering the academy this summer, in partnership with the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), in response to positive feedback from our previous OER Academies.
This advanced Academy will build on previous OER trainings and field experience to support cohorts of three members (faculty, librarians, and instructional designers) in leveraging OER to improve collaboration in course creation for continuous improvement. Cohorts may be institutional and/or cross-institutional. OER developed during the OER Creator Communities Academy will be shared and showcased in the OERTX digital library.
The Academy will focus on the creation of OER in three stages:
June 14, 2:00 - 3:30 CST: Collaborate and Research - Cohorts will be introduced to tools for collaboration and creation of OER and utilize them to gather research and data to inform the design of course materials.
June 21, 2:00 - 3:30 CST: Design and Refine - Cohorts will participate in hands-on training, focusing on creating course materials with specific design considerations.
June 28, 2:00 - 3:30 CST: Improve and Share - Cohorts will do a deep dive into courseware improvement, leveraging supports for peer review, reflection, and sharing of resources.
There will be office hours offered for support and informal discussion with OER experts outside of the published times.
Participants are required to attend the three 90-minute webinars and complete approximately seven hours of practice activities to find, curate, publish, and share their OER project. The Academy will be capped at 45 participants (15 cohorts).
Applicants will be selected for participation based on their commitment to attending all sessions, evidence of advanced OER experience, and an OER project proposal developed as a cohort. Participants will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion upon fulfillment of all requirements.
